B&O retrofit, Ceramics, Winters and Turner back box
I just completed various upgrades. Ceramic brake retrofit kit, reversing camera retrofit kit, B&O retrofit (there is no kit, but it can be done), Turner back box delete, Winter wheels and tyres, Powder coated black winter wheels.
I had previously installed with some difficulty the M pedals and M steering wheel. Left to do are the IND Challenge rear diffuser (just the diffuser not the whole rear trim), the McRae front splitters and the P3 gauge. One they are done, I think I'm done..... Will be time to change the car then! Attached are a few pics of the wheels and B&O, a list of kit needed to do a B&O retrofit and a couple of movies of the Turner exhaust. They will need to be downloaded and the .pdf removed from their name to open in media player. Loving the B&O and the Turner back box. That's how a car should sound. ETA: formatting of pics has lost the rotation setting, sorry. |

Wow. I would think it would be cheaper to sell and buy a new car with these features.

Depends on the level of discount one gets from list on original purchase. If, for example, one were to get >£20k of discount from list then it makes sense to add those bits later and not have to wait for 4 months....

Pray tell; off to the dealer on Tuesday to pull the trigger on an M5 to March/April delivery in time for the 14 plate. Got 15.5k off but was hoping to get the car down to 20k off. If it is possible please let me know so that I can bash the dealer over the head with it!!!!

What wheels are these and are they designed to fit the M5 as-is? Can't find a winter wheel & tyre package for M5 on UK website - anyone asked at a dealership if such a thing is available? |

At the same time you pay some holding deposit to the dealer (not a finance deposit) and you give your old car as trade in. So the dealer gets 65k from BMW Finance UK + your deposit + your trade in car, when all they want is 65k for the new car. ie they end up owing you your deposit and trade in value. You have 0 equity in the car from day 1, but who cares, why have equity in a depreciating asset. As long as you understand that come trade in time next time your M5 is unlikely to have significant equity in it. If you want to be really funky (some dealers get this others think you are money laundering), increase the purchase price of the new car to list BUT also increase your trade in value by same amount. Say your trade in is 15 and list is 78. Your deal is 65 for new and 15 for trade, but you finance full 65. ie they owe you 15k. If increase purchase to list of 78 and increase your trade in 28, but you finance the full 78, ie they owe you 28k. It's a cheap way of borrowing money at 0%. The dealer takes a loss on the trade in but books the new car at list. Some dealers get it, others think you are trying to screw them, others think you are money laundering. Neither I'm sure would be the case, but it all depends whose P&L new car sales and trade ins end up on. |
