Moved to CA - Help with SMOG needed. Thanks!
Just moved from AZ to CA. Looks like I will need to put stock intake on.
Have High Flow Cats, do they really check that hard to know those arent stock cats? Other issue is Readiness codes. Looks like I will have to do some drive cycles. Does turning off Cold Start in the tune effect any readiness codes from not working? Are there any performance shops in the Bay Area near Palo Alto that can help switch stuff to stock and get readiness codes in check to pass smog? Any good SMOG shops someone can recommend? Thanks for the help everyone! |

I would flash back to the stock tune for smog. If their computer senses anything not 100%, they will fail you.
No sniffer test anymore. Just a visual inspection and their computer will scan your OBD2 port to make sure no errors.

You will NOT pass smog with highflow cats for sure. you will need stock setup.

All readiness monitors have to be functional - any shop can do a simple scan for you. Beyond that nothing is checked (no sniffer). Cold Start won't matter if engine temps are hot (which they will be)

California only allows evap to be not ready. There is a difference between the monitors being functional, and being ready. The temperature of the engine has no relevance to the secondary air monitor being ready after a few drive cycles.
