I saw you ask VIC if it is safe since your car is a lease, he explained perfectly. My M5 is always on a lease as well. I kept the resonators just in case I have to re-install the resonators to return it to lease. But as Vic said it, I doubt they would check your exhaust pipe is this would not cause any damage to the car what so ever.

Hope you do it, because on revs and when you floor it makes quite a gains of sounds, but as far as idling not much gain.
Thank you N.S.A

Im gonna o this on my F10 M5 , since there is no DRONE , that was my biggest fear on the car , since its full "competition exhaust" stock , only removing ressonators is fine

I think I'm going to do it as well. I called a muffler shop in Fort Lauderdale owner said it was "easy". Was thinking about Turner muffler delete. The sound clips are great but also worried about drone and my car has the CP and is leased so don't want to put to much extra $$ into it.

BTW
Where did you get the centerpipes that replaced the resonators?
I wanna do it this week but don't know where I get these from.

Thanks

I got then from stealth pilot, but ind sells them. It is prob cheaper to just get a shop to cut out the stock res and replace with straight pipe.

Has anyone tested to see if it has any power gains? I am curious to see what this would do in terms of Power. Could it be possible that you get a few extra HP?

In theory possibly up top with the turbos breathing ever so slightly better. In my experience having done this mod many times on turbo and N/A cars; the butt dyno said NO.

The sound is better but power may even go down slightly because some back pressure is good for the turbos to spool faster under fast accelerations from what understand.

Catless and red delete you shave lots of free flow but bit much back psi to keep the turbo spooling. I would assume there may be a small power gain on the top end but loss on the low end accelerations .

Anyone else agree?

The increase is sounds is worth the delete ( to me).

resonator/muffler delete

I drive a 2007 335i and I just had the deletes done yesterday. I had the shop replace the resonator with pipe and im running stright out the back with stock tips. Total cost 185.00. Took them about an hour and a half and had to pay for piping. Holy ball$ is it loud! Sounds really good and honestly with music on the drone is not horrid. But people will know when you hit the gas. I kept the cats in and i have a stock dp. I love it. Really depends on who you ask. I personally like a loud exhaust. It doesn't sound like a ricer either.... and honestly the exhausts that do sound ricey are still on a bmw at the end of the day.

Hey Vic55
I found a few shops that are willing to delete my resonators but not of them has STAINLESS STEEL PIPES and they have aluminized pipes!
I dunno the difference ?!! Is it just looks ? Durability?
Do you recommends stainless steel for some reason ?

And they said it will cost 60$

Well
I didn't do it because I did research it a little bit more and it seems that with turbos it will decrease that back pressure needed to spool quickly and you lose some efficiency there!

how come? It doesnt remove any of the xpipes, just the resonator.. Does that reduce backpressure?

Does the CEL light turn on if you remove the resonator?

I've been reading and it looks like removing the resonator might actually give you a couple of horses..

It seems so from my research nothing crazy but enough to make not want to do it -
I almost pulled the trigger on it today but also met with a car enthusiast who helped build cars in the past and confirmed that you wouldn't wanna do this to your M5 because it does affect back pressure and you will be using your gas pedal more to achieve same power!! NOT FOR ME -

IF YOU HAVE A MORE SCIENTIFIC PROOF This doesn't hold true for M5 please present your piece now or hold it forever !

Bummer. I was set to do this tomorrow but will now hold off to get more information. Initially I was going to do Turner exhaust but worried about reports of drone and loss of power (apparently works itself out). I have a leased 2015 M5 with comp pkg. and I'm looking for better sound without loss of power without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions?

Yeah
For starters I just found out that my M5 Non CP has better exhauste than almost most cars out there for eg stock CTS-V, Audi S6, (Not RS7 as I heard it), but better than Panamera Turbo that I just test drove today and the SA laughed at my exhauste and said "Now your car sounds more like a 911" and did admire my Non CP M5 stock exhauste... So short of exotics and this sort of cars but rest assured M5 especially CP sounds great as stock as it is but again M4 sounds way better than M5 NON CP probably CP like? Not sure anybody compared?
