OEM F10 Exhaust Valve Mod

Finally got around to doing this since I picked up my M5. It definitely improves the exhaust note at startup and cruising around. Will keep me satisfied until I get an exhaust system.

What I used

Flathead screwdriver
Band Clamps 1-13/16 to 2-3/4 Stainless Steel

While turned off, I wrapped the band clams around the actuator arm and its mount and started turning the screw. Once it the screw becomes harder to turn, I pushed the valve arm in to full open and screwed the clamp further until it was secured.

Here are the pictures. I'll post a video later.

+1
Did this shortly after picking mine up after reading about it. Honestly, quite surprised how much better it sounded. Cold start grins guaranteed!

Just realized I never posted the pictures.. I ended up getting the Turner Muffler Delete so never got to get a video but here are some pictures. If you look at the solenoids, you will see that I have the band clamp around the actuator/arm.

How do you like the Turner Delete??
Do you find it much better/louder than stock with valve mod? Tone difference as well as volume? Been considering this also as an upgrade to running stock cans with open valves. Let's hear it!

I love it and it's ALOT louder outside than the stock exhaust. Inside the cabin it's not much louder than stock.

i PM'd you some videos.

Where does the vacuum solenoid seats?

Is there no way to cut dme signal and take an ignition plus with a switch to open and close valve manually?

There are several devices on the market that can allow you to manually control your exhaust.

JB4 from BMS

I am not sure about your DME question as I do not have that experience but might be worth asking in tuning page.

I tucked the hose in the bumper above the muffler. The hose runs to the solenoid that is located in the trunk behind the carpeting. This is what I was told but I've never confirmed.
