Just be careful whatever decision you make... It is not the same driving on the streets than on the track. You have to watch out for people in other cars or walking...

actually, in Poland a new M5 costs $160k WITHOUT ANY OPTIONS. Load it with them and boom, there you go - 200-230k.. I know that there are countries where it's even more expensive, but... Our average per month salary (the real one,not the OFFICIAL one served by the government) is $600. Poland is a country of miracles

Absolutely! The F10 M5 wants to be owned by someone who will push it to the car's potential, after all. And nobody under 30 (IMHO) has the experience to safely push these limits. There is way too much power to be respected, and too much technology to be properly appreciated in this car for a new driver.

With all due respect, my friend, work your way up from a slightly less powerful car and you'll save your mother some early grey hairs, money, and quite possibly your livelihood. It is awesome that you are a dyed-in-the-wool BMW fan though. You were born with good taste!

My God, if I even had my 550 at say 17 years old I wouldn't be here to talk about it. Good advice to work his way up a bit.

In all honesty, I bet there are some of us in our 40's that still need a lesson or two in how to be careful in a machine like this (like me at times). The old saying ~ "its just a car" ~ takes the back seat once you combine 2+ tons with about 600 hp. Some damage can be done here. Remember that kid with the E60 M5 that actually launched it into the air off the end of a runway? What a shame. It's like anything else in life, we need experience first, that's all. Jobs, cars, women, etc...just takes time.

Sorry about your dad! Very unfortunate situation, but don't be saddened that he cannot buy you a BMW. I say work your way up and earn an M5, M3 or whatever you want! You will enjoy the car twice as much and have a sense of accomplishment doing so. Make your mom and dad proud. Buy an M5 when you are ready!

Hey man, Don't worry what others say most are just jealous you get such a nice car at that age. but Some comments make sense, at your age it comes out to your responsibility, if your one of those immature 17 year old kids that their parents buy them a fast car and they get speeding and reckless driving tickets then this car is not the right car for you because I have known kids that have had M3 and very fast cars that nearly have died because they were immature. But then they are kids like me. I am lucky enough for my parents to be able to afford the cars they have got me.
at 17 years old I got my first car

a 2009 X6 50i which has 400hp and 450lbs of torque and 0-60 is at 5.2 secs. at that time that was a super fast car.

at age 20 I got an 2010 X6M which I loved, but it got bought back from the manufacture because of problems.

then I got an 2013 BMW M3 LIMEROCK PARK EDITION AT 20 THROUGH 21 years old. I loved that car but that 2 wheel drive was something else. I Enjoyed and at times it tested my maturity.

now I AM 21 and my parents got me an 2014 BMW M5. I love the hell of the car but I am very responsible. I have no tickets to date for speeding or anything just one fix it ticket which I got it fix from m3 that I SOLD with tinted windows and no front license plate.

But your a professional karting racer so you should definitely be fine. After all I grew up with strict driving instructions from my parents and I learned a lot from my siblings as well. So Good luck to you I really hope you get the m5, and if you do be safe and responsible but at the same time enjoy it haha.

All power to you for having parents that buy you expensive cars, but how will you learn to acquire future toys for yourself if they are not able to provide? How will you be able to respect work and earning a living when everything is given to you? Bottom line is, take our advice or not, this is your life, but don't come here calling people jealous when they have a lot more experience in life than you and most of them have their own children and earn a respectable living.

Your acting like I said all were jealous I said some, not all. I know what you mean some kids don't appreciate what they get and would not know how to get it on their own, I am not of those kids. and Yes definitely people here have kids of their own and have a respectable living. Messages on the board could be perceived completely different and most guys here are family man that worked very hard to be able to afford an m5. I totally understand where your coming from, I apologize if I came out wrong and strong. But I know what your saying, there is a lot of hard working family man here, after all you can't get afford an M5 if you did not work hard to afford such an amazing car in your field of work. But thank you, for sure will do. Trust me I love this car so much, and I know this sounds weird but I often let my sister drive it since its a little nicer than her car. P.S she is a great driver for a women haha.
