I Can't Take the Brake Dust Anymore.......CarboTech or Cool Carbon?

Not yet, fronts are still on backorder. I'll definitely be posting my thoughts on them though in my journal. I'm combining them with the ecs stainless steel brake lines. Should be good.

Had cool carbons on my fronts for over a year, EXCELLENT pads w/no dust and solid stopping power. Added Akebono's to the rear a few months back to replace my OEM pads and now I got all kinds of squeaks (while driving and braking) with slightly less bite.

Anyone else have the Akebono rears?

It just started for me and may very well just be wear and tear on the pads; I've never had any issues with this setup.

Cool carbon fronts sold out at ECS. Nowhere to be found so that sucks.

Im running Akebono rears and Carbotech fronts with absolutely no squeal or brake dust. My car gets dirty and my wheels stay clean even after rain! And i have gold 21* Velos!

I had the Carbotech 1521 front/rear and although there was a 30% reduction in brake dust compared to oem I couldnt get rid of the loud squealing............I then switched the fronts to "Power stop Z17 Ceramic Pads 17-1648" and the noise hasnt come back still after 1 year and its 60% less dust than oem.

I was a big fan of Akebono ceramic for best dustfree pads but too bad they dont make fronts......I will be using the Z17's for the rear soon to match the dust color/level in the front.......or maybe the Akebonos....anything else better?

I had cool carbon fronts and Akebono rears. Was an ideal setup with absolutely no squeal. Went to carbotech front because cool carbon discontinued and squeal would not go away. I agree with Steve powerstop z17 upfront is the ticket paired with Akebono rears

I’m in interested in these pads but the only app that appears on the website is for 13’ M5. My question is if there’s any difference between pads for 13’s and later years. I don’t believe so but I’m not 100% sure.

My Cool Carbons just began squeaking after almost 2 years.

I can comment on Akebono rears; I’ve had them for about two years and zero issues, no squeel and minimal brake dust.

I’m having PS Z17’s installed on the front in the coming weeks and will provide feedback; several other members gave them a positive review. The reality is that there are not too many choices.

Just looking now at the PowerStop website, it looks like ceramic Z17's are marketed as a low dust, low cost OEM replacement, while Z26 (front only) is a "performance" pad. Does anyone have any comparison experience of these two?

Just had Z17’s installed earlier this week (replaced Cool Carbons that had started squeeling after 2 years) on the fronts. So far bite and stopping feels very similiar to the Cool Carbons and very minimal brake dust (better than the CC’s). I swapped out the OEM’s shortly after buying the car so I can’t compare to the OEM pads as it’s been more than two years.

Overall, very happy with the minimal dust, bite, and the zero squeel.
