2015 bmw m5
Hi All,
Just picked up a 2015 F10 M5 in lovely Singapore Grey. Only has 14k miles and about 6k worth of options. I've come from a Nardo Grey 2017 FL RS3 and I must say the comfort in the M5 is as expected light-years better. I've managed to find a car that fuses good speed with fantastic comfort. I bought the car used from an external main brand dealership (Not BMW) who have offered their own 3 months warranty. There's still another free service with BMW included though. Any tips or things to look out for would be greatly appreciated. I don't plan on tuning or modifying the car, only aesthetically. Would anyone advise inquiring with BMW about purchasing Used Warranty? Few pics below: Last edited by X42; 07-28-2019 at 11:00 AM.. |

Great color, congrats! The M5 truly is amazing!
Regarding warranty.. it's up to you and it will cost a pretty penny. if your car checked out great, drives great, has no issues... I wouldn't worry too much. You read a lot about the horror stories of these engines blowing etc... but people are also pushing these cars past factory limits. If your staying stock , I wouldnt be too worried. that's my opinion at least

Congratulations on the low mileage find! And of course, Singapore Gray is the color

Similar spec and colour to mine, looks like you got a low miles well looked after one, lucky there so enjoy it. Quite a few tend to replace the chrome rad grille with gloss black and get rid of the standard chrome tube exhaust tips for some custom ones. Then there are the fins to add to the diffuser..the list can go on if your enthusiastic.

I got a 2015 CP with 45k miles just about three months ago. So far I had to change the battery and also replaced the fuel pump under the factory warranty.i end up buying an extended warranty just for the peace of mind.
I plan to keep the car stock except for adding an exhaust, I figure if I keep the OEM trim, I would avoid a lot of the headaches I have seen online. Three months now, I love it, love it and love it. Congrats on your buy and hope you will enjoy it as much as I have. |

Congrats and it seems a well kept car.
re: Warranty, I will consider a warranty if I was you. Cars on the extremely low and high side of mileage can be risky over time. Since you are closing on your 4-year I will consider some cushion to enjoy your ride (unless you are handy and work on your own car). Apart from that, enjoy the car its a sweet ride and great color!

Thanks all for the warm welcome and responses. The car really is a dream to drive. The colour gets better and better every time I look at it.
I will probably look into warranty once the 3 month one offered by the external company ends. I had a look online and they offer Insured Warranty for Comprehensive, Named Component and DriveLine all varying in prices respectively. Would anyone have any recommendations on these? I’m feeling comprehensive for nearly £140 a month is way too much. I do like to have the occasional hoon in the car! Black grills and carbon spoiler are all on the buy list! |

At just 16k mile I think you'll be throwing money away. Get a warranty at 50k onwards when there is far more chance of a claim and just purchase the BMW breakdown service plan in the meantime should you get a puncture miles from home and can't inflate with the kit, more of a worry for all M5 owners with no room for a space saver wheel.

I went into my local BMW and they said something along the lines of that. The car will need inspecting and will need to be driven for a set time before warranty can be offered. I do agree though, from what it seems the car was hardly driven by the previous owner. It feels like new so maybe a warranty isn’t absolutely necessary. My uncle is a car mechanic and can usually spot something wrong. I am keeping an eye out for the common listed problems here (Fuel pump, rod bearings and battery) seem to be the most mentioned.
I was considering between a BMW approved warranty and another external company like warranty direct or something along those lines. It’s not really at the top of my mind at the moment as it’s still covered for 3 months. Just enjoying driving it so far! The paint is absolutely spotless with hardly any scratches on it. Might cover it in a nice coat of wax to keep her looking pristine. We already have family breakdown cover which includes punctures and roadside breakdowns thankfully! |

The BMW breakdown plan guarantees it get's taken to a Bm approved garage in the unlikely event yours should have a problem.I would never have it left at some other garage.
