Thank you.

But how come an E63 AMG rated at 19 mpg is not subject to this tax?

Quote:
The National Energy Act: Energy Tax Act of 1978 (US), or the Gas Guzzler Tax, imposed set tax penalties on car manufacturers who fail to meet the minimum fuel economy level of 22.5 mpg-US (10.5 L/100 km; 27.0 mpg-imp) in the United States. This does not include minivans, sport utility vehicles or pick-up trucks. It is intended to discourage the production and purchase of fuel inefficient vehicles.
To create a tax to discourage people from buying fuel inefficient vehicles and yet not taxing the least fuel efficient vehicles such as pick-ups, vans and SUVs, is very contradictory.

According to my dealer, Hawaii got the first allocation in the country and he says they will definitely have theirs next week.

How do the wheels get blacked out? Is it a film or paint. I want black wheels, but am thinking I have to go aftermarket. Please let me know the process and who can do it for you.
Thanks

And somehow the Mercedes cuts that are rated at 16/24 avoid this! Isn't the M5 going to be 17/22? Maybe only highway mpg

I was thinking similar timing myself to avoid the winter. That being said, ED delivery for early may would require February order?

How much time in advance does ED delivery give you for final delivery date at Welt? Work vacations around trip to Germany will need to be planned well in advance for me. I cant remember on my E91 how far ahead they give completion date.

The poster is referring to an unofficial BMW site called "BMWConfig.com" which does have a module up that allows you to price a 2013 M5 up with options. The site does not have a visualizer like the BMW NA website.

I've no experience with this site and have no idea where it obtained its purported "invoice" prices from.

Correct, it's not the official bmw configurator. I don't know where they get their wholesale/invoice pricing but it seems to have been accurate in the past. Time will tell I suppose, sorry for the confusion to those looking at bmwusa and swearing up and down.

Thanks for sharing this. Didn't even know it existed.

So I bring in the price listing to my dealer and they ask "where did you get this?" I tell them from this website and smile. Then they tell me they don't even have the pricing yet but what I have is just like what they would get when it comes out. Then they preceded to promise me they would have the pricing by next week and that I'm number one on the list. This is a very short list by the way. I've had a deposit in for almost a year. But they aren't sure how many they will get allocated. But after having problems with my M3 they do know that that will get at least one and it's mine. And yes I do have that in writing from dealing with the owner of the dealership and BMW north America. It's an extremely long story that I will have to post one day :-). The wait is killing me just like everyone else. But I think it's being made even worse due to the fact that my M3 is gone as well :-(. Also has anyone found out if the frozen colors are the same as the individual colors listed?

Edit: sorry, just realized you mean that you are somewhere down lower on the deposit list so the dealer thinks it may be months before filling your slot in the list. In any case, dealers will know their allocations when the order bank opens soon.

Yeah I'm #14 out of 15 the dealer has allocated. I'm not going to wait until July or August just to order. If that is the case I will get something else. I'm going to find out what the list for the M6 coupe is looking like. I need to see the 6 GC again in person to see if that may be a possibility.

Another option is simply to call around dealerships in smaller markets. They're far more likely to have deposit lists that are much smaller. In fact, I remember a member here recently did this and found a dealer where he was still able to be lower than #5 on the list.

Of course the drawback to small town dealers is that they will also likely receive fewer allocations.
