After I drove the M6, I felt that it should be a lot lighter for the money you pay. This is why in my opinion, if u want an M6 or even a Gran Coupe for that matter, it's best to buy one used, that way you don't waste your money from the massive depreciation on an overpriced car.

Where are you coming up with your data?
Drag times database using your own car actually as the M5 example . In this case the only verified stock M6 time is 11.65 @ 123.7. And your filter only M5 at 11.84. @ 120.8 mph . And your car is by far the fastest M5 I've seen . I know I'm not counting your recent v box data but that's apples to oranges as it was on a 2% downslope and an awesome DA.

Oh and by the way a bone stock (PSS too ) comp pack M6 won the Grassroots motorsports Ultimate car challenge at VIR running a 2:12 on the VIR full course ( showroom stock class ) . It was actually 1 second faster than the GMP performance modded E 92 m3 too . That's an awesome time for a stock 41xx pound GT , hell that's an awesome time for anything , especially since it's from an amateur driver , not a team . The M6 is worth every penny I payed for it because it's what I preferred ( I thought the M5 was too soft ) . My CP coupe arrives next week! Both are fantastic though !

I meant the data for the M6 GC which I assumed the OP meant because he was looking for the "fastest 4 door M series".

I agree if the conversation is about an M5 vs M6 coupe... That particular M6 also was sporting the CC brakes which further add to its power to weight ratio... And I kind of doubt the driver of that M6 weighs 240+lbs like moi.

I would have purchased an M6 to get into the 11's in the quarter mile as apposed to the low 12's with an M5. However that said if fishes were wishes we'd all have a fry... AND I am very happy with the M5. So in a couple of years I'll purchase an M6.
I have yet to meet a BMW sales person to know jack about the cars. Maybe if they were a car freak like us .....I find myself telling them about the cars. I told one dealer owner they need to send the sales people to a BMW learning center before the can sell a car. By the way nice car, and honestly M5, M6, GC they're all the same car performance wise.

The GC is sexy(: See I didnt say 991. If the GC was out when I purchased my M5 last year I would have purchased the GC. Oh well I'm still satisfied with the M5 no need to keep up with the Jones for me. Hell I can only go so fast.

For the M6 Gran Coupe with the Comp Package, it is 22lbs heavier than the F10 M5. So you take a guess.
Said true. I just assumed you could read my mind. Four door sedan.

Absolutely correct! I knew, in every case, more than the salesman. I had just never considered an M6 because I assumed (you know what that does) that M6s were just dolled up M5s.

Thank you.... I think.

I just joined this forum to learn and share my enjoyment of BMW's: NOT to have my English syntax, my IQ, or lack of BMW knowledge picked apart by lurkers just waiting to be uppity.

Hell, if I knew everything about BMWs why would I be on the forum?

I'd say that's right on the $$. I won many a street race (in the 60's) when my car (then a '59 corvette) was slower because I knew how to street race.

I realize that street racing is not PC now days. Oh well everyone in this forum has done it. In case you have not guessed I'm not PC

I am on the same boat. If the GC was out I would have bought it, but the M5 puts a huge smile on my face every time I drive it and not once I had any regrets.

If the M6 GC had some decent weight loss that could possibly justify the additional 20+% increase in price, I would agree. But there is just no justification IMHO for that premium.

Yep I agree , if you want a coupe get the M6 , if you want 4 doors it's the M5 .

The M6 is hot but I wanted 4 doors for when the kids are in town, and that's it. The M6 was out before the M5 hit the states, and I had a 650cic so didn't want another 6 even if it was an M. A coup at 4300 lbs doesn't do it for me, but the GC is a different story(:

That's exactly why I ordered the M5 and not the M6GC

With the 6-series you pay a premium, just like you do with a Panamera, because there are no cheap, low end, version of the 6-series, like there is with the 5-series. That means it has a more upmarket interior and not least, more upmarket perception. When you see a 6-series, you know it's a expensive car with a high price tag and big(ish) engine. See a 5-series and you want to check on the trunk to see if it's a 520 or a higher end version (or check number of tailpipes). That means BMW can charge a premium since people are suckers for exclusivity etc. And the GC looks GORGEOUS

Obviously for the average buyer a car salesman is your guide and counsellor in choosing the correct car for you. I have NEVER bought a car that way though. I read all the magazines, forums, articles online and brochures that I can come across. I then figure out what is possible within my budget and which car I want. The salesman is just an instrument in getting me the car I want and have specced.
