sears point track day video

barry b and i had a track day at sears point last weekend. the first half it was pissing monsoon like rain, then cleared up by the afternoon. we had one good 20 minute run with dry conditions. he had his supercharged e36 m3 and me the f10. pretty evenly matched overall. i'd pull away on straights, he'd catch up on corners. pretty fun cat and mouse action. we lapped the field before our 20 minutes were up. looking forward to our next private track event in a couple weeks.

Nice. Do you have any data overlay videos? I assume you had the Harry Lap timer app active?

Having fun chasing Bob. The sound is not good but you can hear me breaking loose a few times and also see some of the water left on the track.
I need to learn the line better. I feel much more comfortable at Laguna Seca.....

Nope easy. $20 app called Harry's lap timer. Video captured on iPhone. Has a few bugs with new os. I can't get the g meter to work but the go pro is getting less use since this app...

Thanks. I did not have mdm on. it was the first run with dry Tarmac we had so I wasn't ready to turn off countermeasures. I did faster laps in my m3 by about 5 sec with mdm on but that was with a few runs to find my comfort level. overall very happy with how m5 performed. definitely could have pushed it more. but I drove away with an unscathed car so that's a good track day.

Ditto. Even on the M3 I had the ASC on ( and it engaged several times )....my training wheels.

what did you use to mount your phone for the video...

Ive run Harry's before and synched it with GoPro video, but its a royal PITA.

I bought a $35 window/dash mount that worked great with iPhone 5. I will post a pic and link when I get home. Bought it at best buy.

to pick up exhaust sound better and limit wind noise, i used external mic for the iphone attached under the boot lid in the water runoff channel. if you just mount camera in windshied or outside, all you hear is wind. might as well be driving a tesla.

I bought a RAM suction mount on eBay. Using your iPhone is a piece of cAke
