Choices Choices

Was at dealer today for a quick car wash and they had a 2016 M5 that came in on Friday. It was ordered for a customer, who subsequently backed out of the deal.

It's a VERY heavily optioned car.

Tanzanite Blue/silverstone, competition package, executive package, B&O, black 20" rims, MPE w/ Carbon Tips, etc...

They offered to buy back my 2016 M4, only taking a $3k hit, and discounting the M5 buy $8600.

The deal is great but just asking for opinions.

Interesting proposition - how much do you like your M4, and were you ever considering an M5? I just came from an E92 M3 and am really enjoying the M5.

It's a deal for sure.... Make sure you test drive it and really love it. I say that because I have two friends who traded their M4s in for an M5 and M6 and they regretted it. The M4 is light weight and feels more nimble and agile. The M5 is heavier so you will feel that difference

Interesting insold my M5, and picked up the M4 for different reasons wanted a convertible and not a fan of the M6. Factor in the M5 will be a outgoing model of you're ok with that.

Don't do it. You'll hate the size coming from an M4.

But you'll love the added luxury. Depends on what you like and what your needs are. The M5 is huge. Perfect for two car seats though. Drive it and see if you like it. Try parking with it and getting in/out of your garage with it to see if you can live with the size.

I would have thought that if you wanted an M5 you would have bought an M5 instead of an M4. If having experienced the M4, you are left wanting more space and luxury, then go for it.

Same issue my friends went through. They feel like they are driving a boat.

Pics please. Sounds nicely optioned (aside from the Silverstone Leather - personal preference).

Like others have said, the M5 is def more luxurious and a larger "cockpit" which all make me prefer the M5 to my former E90 M3. Plus the M5 is more a "sleeper" IMO.

With all that being said, the M3 was more fun to drive. It all depends on your preferences and needs though.

It's a completely different car than what you have now. If you enjoy taking road trips in comfort and not feeling tired after, the M5 definitely wins. Moreover, you can have lots of fun at the track and the car has loads of torque, which is addicting and causes MPG's to never climb over 12. A lot more space, luxury, torque. I also think you get more respect on the road in the M5 where other drivers think of it as King Edward and M4 is more of a wild teenager like Prince William. Just my $0.02.

All they are doing is discounting a port installed accessory, the MPE. You're really just getting a free exhaust. It's easy for them to do that since they probably have lots of them in stock. I think you can get at least 3k more out of them, otherwise I still see you paying full sticker lol.

After more thought, I decided to pull the trigger on the 2016 M5.

The pot was sweetened a bit and I really love the car.

I will post pictures after delivery later today.

I'm so jealous, in Taiwan you can't back out of a car you ordered, BMW distributor in Taiwan requires 1/3 non-refundable deposit of the price of the car for them to order anything.

Interested to hear your feedback. I went the other way and traded my M5 for an M4. M5 is a big luxury car that is incredibly fast. M4 is much lighter and doesn't have quite the same level of brutality when it comes to acceleration. A few options not available on the M4 like cooled seats are a serious bummer. My situation has changed a little and I might consider going back to the M5 again. Have 5 cars right now and want to consolidate some.

Glad you went with it. It's just at a different level as an overall package. More solid, has a real presence but still a lot more stealth than the M3/4. Get used to the torque and you can have a lot of fun. It's a bit of a rocket! Congratulations and post pics when you can
