I cant believe people are so stuck up on 0-60 numbers
This is just a paper comparo
Once tested in real life, side-by-side, one can argue the performance difference
Right now it's just estemated numbers (especially for M5)
We need to see 1/4 mile times/trap speed and hopefully some other figures that define power a bit better than silly 0-60-traction-limitted figure

Still waiting to know the Curb weight of the new M5, the posted EU Unladen is misleading, the 550i curb is over 4500 lbs. Other than CF roof there is no mention of light weight materials.

Very true, also times quoted are 0-62, I think it will be capable of 4.0 at least.
But I think some are disappointed because when the the E60 M5 first came out it was clearly faster than all competitors (there were also less competitors). The 500 hp V10 was a landmark engine for the class, the new MPower TTV8 with 552 hp (SAE) is in the range of the the amg, CTS V, Panamera Turbos, Jag Xf-R and Audi RS6, but clearly not the most powerful, nor is it the only or first TTV8 in it's class. That said I think the overall car will be one of the best, if not the most satisfying among it's competitors.

so tell me, do you think you can achieve 0-60 2s car with 40k? whats was your expectation anyways? you can only do so much from 0-60 and this has been the case for all turbo s vs turbo for porsche. let alone other manufacturers.

I don't know for sure, but I would think that porsche would throw in features that would normally be added on as standard on the s trim. It is like that on the 911 turbo and turbo s. Ceramic brakes are standard, pdk, and a whole bunch of other stuff.

I'm also curious about 0-200km/h times or 0-300km/h times between Panamera Turbo S and M5... Auto Motor und Sport might do this kind of comparo soon on Nardo high speed track

Sometimes it is funny how fanboys can't give credit where credit is due and the Porsche Panamera in terms of performance/Handling for a big Sedan is unprecedented.

shift@red;9854920
+1. Panamera has set a (very, very high) new performance and handling bar.
fanboys at it best. how exactly can you two be so sure that the m5 cannot match or surpass the panamera turbo performance when none of the test data are out yet?

Not to mention much of this data isn't quite accurate. The Panamera is also available in a 6 speed manual in RWD versions, not just PDK. But not too sure if you're comparing M5 X-Drive to Panamera AWD, or if we are comparing RWD to RWD?

Ahh doesn't matter. Thanks for the effort.
why not? the panamera is smaller than the 7 series or s class and similar in size to the new m5.

I really like Jag's new skin.

While the XFR is a decent competitor overall, Jaguar also has the XFR-S up their sleeves.

The XKR-S supercharged engine (550 hp, 502 lb/ft) will likely be used, if not tuned further. Should make the game more interesting...

Could the Porsche be any uglier. It looks like a 911 that's been stretched by some shitty limo shop.

I would be extremely happy with either one of the XFR or M5
although i'm sure a lot of people will miss those 10 cylinders of roaring fun.

I hope bmw doesn't get caught up doing a "power war" and neglect some of the driving characteristics of their cars. The 5 series used to be fun to drive.
My friend had an E39 540 and it was awesome, loved the way it drove...
E39 M5, wow car.
A very respected car journalist in the UK reckons that the f10 m5 feels more like the successor to the e39 m5, which makes it an overall better car than the e60. It will leap to top of the class.

Actually, no, they're still an $8000+ option on the Turbo S.

The interior on the Panamera is light years ahead of the M5 and Jag. The new M5 is going to be a very close match to both cars but I would take the M5 over the Jag and the Pan Turbo over the M5.

I think considering the price..... M5 gives the best performance in that company.
