4 recaros are what the M5 should have had. That is just brilliant.

I always thought it would cost less to get a fast car and gut it rather than get a slow light car and make it faster. On the track you'll run into less issues since the car is dealing with less stress than it was designed for.

Not to mention the roll cage adds weight as well.

I wonder if this is the beginning of the diet.
I wonder if you stripped it completely down how much you can lost maybe 1000 lbs.
I've heard of one E39 M5 track car losing about 800 lbs of weight.
The car has absolutely no creature comforts to speak of.
The cage adds structural rigidity to the overall chassis so even though the cage does add a bit of weight its good weight. And creature comforts? this is a race car man!!

I have seriously considering doing a simple rollcage for my F30 just for my familys safety.
Has anyone else though of this for a daily street driver? It wouldnt cost too much but it would make my car many times safer.

I would never sit in the back of a car with a rollcage. I have a halfcage in my racecar. I never let people sit in the back and it is not legal in Norway. If i drive a with full cage I would wear helmet and 4/6 points belts.

This! You need to wear helmets with a cage.
