Need Advice: 1353224800 Fuel injector leaking, with intake Gasket damage.
I just got off the phone with BMW Miami,
I was informed that the vehicle (I am about to buy) had a Fuel injector Leakage. This caused: 1) injectors 1-4 to failed (were replaced) 2) caused damage to intake gasket (replaced) 3) bank 1 malfunction (resolved) 4) pulse generator, crankshaft permanent malfunction (replaced) Questions for the gear heads & ME's here: 1) Should I buy this car? 2) Does this mean that I am going to have issues down the road? 3) Is it a bad omen that this much work on a car with only 29K miles? 4) Does any of this mean that its been tracked? Have about 11 days before I have to pull the trigger or walk away. In about $850 and 10 hours of times. * PDF attached with service info * Listing link: https://www.carmax.com/car/13802257 |

No history of accidents, no paintwork.
Things break, there is chance it will happen again. But would another car not have thesame issue? Hard to say. Have BMW repair it. Test drive. Buy it. |

I don't mind spending the $$$ with BMW, but I don't want the car to live in the repair shop =/.

Doesn't sound like an endemic issue to me or everyone would have reported this. If this is a one-off, then once fixed, it shouldn't be an issue again. Even if same issue pops up, BMW warranties their own warranty work.

Looks like mileage is inaccurate, look at driver seat sides are worn out, steering wheel and shifter knob also doesnt look a like a car with 29k miles on it! My 2013 m3 with almost 50k miles also black interior looks much newer than this car and nothing worn out. I would stay away from this car! Minor accidents and some shop repairs by bmw is fine but suspicious mileage is worse.

Dealer in Florida was really sketchy about it when I spoke with service manager. Wouldn't reveal any details. I am leaning toward "don't buy the money pit." Agreed drivers seat looks like it was either heavily tracked or had a heavy driver. |

May have to...
So its been over 18 months and the car has only been driven 800 miles. Its Jumped around from FL -> VA -> CA -> AZ -> CT-> TX. No one wants to buy it. CARMAX just got it in and shenanigan's continue. It was on the truck for 29 days. Now electrical issues and the car is at the local BMW dealership. =/ They still want $51K! Will keep y'all upated. |

New "hold me over" toy.
So the saga continues. Carmax refunded me the $850 transport fee. White F10 MT Still has electrical issues x 10 days at Momentum BMW.
The M5 MT was my dream car for the last 2 decades. So I haven't given up hope on this beauty. But in the meantime... Here's what's in the cards. E39 2003 negotiating price. GT4 deposit placed 6 months ago. ED expected late 2019 $36K OTD Perfomance pack, premium pack, GT (see pic ) Complete pleasure to slam through those gears. Yes, it has ventilated seats! |

Part II more details
Looks like Injectors 5-8 RAIL 2 are mildly leaking, causing fuel dump. Not severe enough to throw codes. This in turn has caused the O2 sensor to fail. Carmax authorized replacement of the O2 sensor only. This car is out of any sort of warranty. So, the fuel injectors are not going to be replaced. * Of note the Miami dealer wanted to replace all 8 about 18 months ago. BMW only authorized 1-4, so that was done.
Second issue: Drivers side door has a short which is causing battery drain. They decided to replace the battery, but not the door handle. This is going to be a $2000 in parts + labor repair. Read on it gets better... The door handle is synced with the antennas all around the car. Thus, all remote antennas need to be replaced. Currently, the car thinks that someone is constantly touching the door handle. * It will validate my hesitation not to buy from them if they don't disclose that to me when I go in for my test drive. So all in all if anyone buys this car, its about $4000-6500 worth of repairs out of the gate. Make sure you get the best aftermarket warranty. I'm going to see if CarMax will consider replacing the door handle and injectors. None the less, if anyone is interested in this car, its here in Houston. https://www.carmax.com/car/13802257 WBSFV9C5XDC773062 |

4 Wheeled disappointment VIN: WBSFV9C5XDC773062
After 8 weeks of waiting its here and its a major let down.
29K Miles 2013 MT F10 M5 Lemon or was someone's track/abuse toy. Here is why:
This car felt like a car with 200K+ miles on it. --------- So after nearly 25 man-hours @ $100/hr = $2500 & 2 Months of lost interest income on my $850 I'm out like $2540 in opportunity cost. Not getting stuck with this lemon: $Priceless. If anyone is going to try to get into this car in the future, please feel free to PM me, I know a little too much about it as it is, or just walk away. VIN: WBSFV9C5XDC773062 Cherry on top: $51,000 NON NEGOTIABLE. Was hoping to join the M5 family, but I'm going to be bench warming this session. On a positive note. Exterior (other than rims) was Pristine! |

Bought mine Salvage and rebuild it myself,
Luckily car had only cosmetic damage no frame damage or any electrical nor mechanical, last week i did 160mph on her and she is amazing! I was at the service Bmw of Open Road few days back and they couldn't tell it was in accident. Car is in top notch condition like from show room. And price? I would say cheaper than brand new fully loaded Maxima! Lmao! Mine is 2015 14k miles. I would stay away from that carmax m5! Good luck |

Thanks for all the advice.
This car was a real let down. Despite my reluctance to admit it... it is clear to me that the F10 was never designed to be a manual. Test drove 3 F10's DCT's today and I've come over to the "DCT side." Dan, the hold has been released if you are interested in at-least taking it for a spin. |

I'm looking for a MT f10 and was excited about the carmax listing. Thankfully I read this thread before I paid to have it shipped to me. What a disaster. Carmax is going to lose their @$$ on this vehicle. Shame
