The ring time is reasonable given a 585 to 600 bhp expected power production and the historical ability for the engineers at m to produce significant lap improvements generation after generation. Since the e60 ran an 8:13, I think advancements will yield a sub-8:00 ring run. However, 3.7 0-60? That seems a bit aggressive given that the e60 did it in 4.7 and an all out M3 hits 4.5.

IMO, BMW understands the importance of straight line oomph, without fixating on the numerical output. The M cars consistently win competitions against peers (especially early in their production runs) without matching horsepower or 0-60 ratings. Think about the RS6 at 450 when the e39 made 394 and the E63 AMG at 515+ when the e60 posted 500.

I would be more interested in the 7:55 ring run than a sub 4.5 0-60 time.

I drove the CTS-V sedan and coupe around the race course at Montecello here in NY and true all out brute HP and variable damping are very, very well executed the CTS-V just doesnt complete the package to me ....

THe sub 8:00 ring time was impressive for the sedan.... there is more to life than that though

i've been unimpressed with the other pics of the f10 m5, but these finally have me excited!
Definitely a bit more understated than the e60, but I'm sure the final product (or when it sheds all camouflage) won't fail to impress!

Best M5 pics yet. Shows what a suspension drop is gonna do for this car's looks IMO. Just look at that pic of it taking high speed sweeper and suspension is all compressed!!

Can't wait for this thing

The M5 has always been about understated looks and superb performance. I think this F10 M5 is set to execute that philosophy perfectly.

True, the next M5 doesn't have stand-out looks like the E60 M5 does, but it is plenty handsome. (Can we drop the chrome door handles please?).

I'm way more interested in how it is going to drive. And judging by the reviews of the X5M and X6M - handling dynamics and engine thrust - we are in for one hell of a ride!

Me like!

The new M5 is going to look awsome! With an 600 hp engine, and a raw exterior Audi and Merc have a big task matching it...

nothing that a simple tune can't fix, since this car will have the twin turbo'd V8, after tuners get their hands on it, it will put the current M5 to shame.. and I think it looks better, the front will look meaner with the simple addition of a lip, the lines flow so nicely and I'm a fan of the tail lights
