Have you done anything to the transmission (gears and shafts), differential, or differential mount to cope with the increased torque load? Do you anticipate any failures due to the the safety factor now being reduced on these components?

We reinforce the rear diff mount with our own developed reinforced mount and upgraded to DSS shafts. Other than clutches and baskets nothing internal has been touched. This M5 has been daily driven with over 20,000 miles and no transmission issues. Those 20,000 miles were not easy either, Ruben took it to car shows, half mile events and played with quite a few people on the highways.

Hearing mixed views on how to prime these engines when rebuilt. Is it enough to fill as normal and crank over engine to prime system or does a certain amount of oil need to be added through the oil filter housing to fully prime the system?

His setup is using the stock manifold and an adapter-plate to mount any turbo coupled to external wastegates. DP’s would be custom to the turbine housing positioning. He has modified the wastegate exit to dump straight out vs recirculate back into the DP.
Mine (Pure X) was similar except using a custom manifold to optimize flow and spool since (in my opinion) the OEM manifold has an inefficient design. It’s really upto what one is trying to achieve. Peak power, spool, area under the curve etc. One can simulate all of this so the result matches the intent. |

Thanks for the explanation. I finally saw the exit port on one of the waste gates and realized the straight tube attached and that it was in fact a waste gate. Are those set mechanically to a certain blow off pressure, or are they controllable while you're driving?
