M5 to M6

So before I start don't get me wrong I love my M5 and the mods I have done to it. When I got it I thought I might be carting my kids around a bit more and might have more people in the back seat. As it ends up I really haven't. On top of that i love the looks of the M5 but it is not *that* different than a bunch of 5xx I see running around town. The dealer I bought my m5 from just got a 2013 m6 (shakir) in on trade. I am thinking he will trade me about straight up as I will be giving away about 6K in miles, losing night vision (didn't really want it just happens the one I bought it had it), going to carbon fiber from aluminum for trim (bummed about this), and I have changed out the grills and added an eisenmann exhaust.

Anyway given I can just trade it up or give a couple grand what are people's thoughts? I think the m6 stands out a bit more and I get basically the same handling and engine I love. Not sure about shakir vs MCB but it has been growing on me. Thoughts welcome! thanks.

Do it....if the cash out of pocket is as minimal as you think it will be, you'll be getting a great deal on an awesome car!

Do it! Sakhir on the M6 is my favorite color. Not so for the M5.

If you aren't using the rear seats and the swap is a wash financially, it's a no brainer IMO.

Wish I could get away with that, but need the kid seats.

Get San Marino Blue. If you can special order then get Monte Carlo Blue. Also consider frozen colors because on the M6 there is a crease from the side vent going down towards the bottom of the door and all the way to the back of the car. Lines like these look much more prominent on frozen colors.

I think he is talking about trading his car in for an M6 that is on the floor already. Not ordering new.

No way it will be a straight trade. Figure five figures added to your trade. Dealers are dealers.

Let us know what their final offer is.

Also what is the difference in msrp between your car and this M6?

I really like my fathers M6, if I didn't have two kids to cart around I would totally get a M6.... Or...... Car Dream sequence.....

Ok looks like I was dreaming a bit with just a couple grand out of pocket but I got them between 7 and 8 to "upgrade" to the m6. How do you guys feel about the equation now?

Actually kind of strange but I just went and priced my m5 and it says 111K not 116K, I could have sworn the sticker with mine said 116K but I know this is the same configuration did some of the options go down? Anyway maybe it is 126K vs 111K. But again I have put about 5K into mods on mine and also has 6K miles vs 11K on the M6.

7-8k to upgrade sounds about right to me. They probably aren't giving you anything for the mods. Maybe you can revert to stock and sell the mods.

IM 99.999% sure that it won't fit the F12 M6. You'd think there wouldn't be much of a difference, but there is.

I am however 100% sure that you should ABSOLUTELY put your stock parts back on and sell whatever you have aftermarket to a fellow forum member, as you should be able to get rid of it quickly and far more than anything the dealer would offer you. Getting some of your money back instead of none of your money back is always nice. It should possibly even bring up the trade in value of your car, no? Someone correct me if I'm wrong

i was gonna say as well keep the exhaust for the m6

but if it wont fit, you may even be better off taking it off and selling it separately.

BTW im in the market for an exhaust. is it the race? or sport?

if youre gonna get out of the m5 why not go for the 991 carrera s? it beats the m5 and m6.

The stock exhaust can be rewelded. The Eisenmann should be easy to sell - wont fit the M6 but will give you some cash to get another one for the M6.

Is it a Race?
