That's a whole lot easier. IIRC, that was the case with my 335i and M3. The 550i does not work that way. So they switched back, it seems.

Guys,

I'm sorry for bumping a really, really old thread.

Up until yesterday when I got my car back from BMW, my car behaved differently than it is today. I used to just keep the car in D, engage the parking brake, and touch START/STOP once. When I did, it would turn off the electronics and unlock the doors. Now I have to press the button twice to turn off the electronics, and the doors aren't unlocking.

The previous owner mentioned having custom programming/coding done to the car. Is that the reason why my car used to behave differently? Are there settings to get it back to the way it used to be?

Hate to add to a old thread but I wonder if the whole leave in d/r thing is a nanny/liability thing.

Yes you need to re-program to unlock the car when your turn it off. Plenty of people can do it remote, you will need to buy $20 cable from Amazon and who ever does it will ask you to install few programs on your windows laptop. Or you can buy BimmerCode app from apple store or whatever version of android , WiFi OBD2 dongle and do it yourself. If you are in norcal, I can do it for you.
