European Delivery: Pics and Tips
First of all, thanks to all of you who wrote about your European delivery experience. I enjoyed reading all the reviews and found them useful for planning my trip, so I thought I would share my experience as well. My trip included stops in Munich, Davos, Venice, Rome, Siena, Nice, Dijon, and Paris, where I dropped off the car.
Before I get to the tips and pics, let me share a bit about the car. In one word: epic. After many months of indecision, I settled on a Monte Carlo Blue M5 with competition package and DCT transmission. Choosing the transmission was by far the most difficult decision to make as my previous car was an e90 M3 with manual transmission which I really enjoyed driving. Anyway, I'm happy with my choice: as many on this board have said, it's a matter of preference and you really can't go wrong. A few tips on European delivery: 1) European highways are littered with speed cameras, so be careful. Since I have a Blackberry I downloaded CamSam, which was great for giving speed camera warnings. 2) There's a 2000km service to be done, so keep that in mind when you're planning your trip. I got mine done in Rome. Many, many thanks to Alberto Ania Medrano @ BMW Roma who interrupted his vacation to make sure that everything went smoothly. PM me if you want his contact info. If you're around Rome, I highly recommend you get the service done there, can’t imagine better service anywhere else. 3) If you're hesitating about European delivery, don't. I will relive my month-long trip for years. Europe is a great holiday destination in my opinion, but it's even better in an M5 because you'll get to enjoy Europe’s incredible roads and scenery. Finally, the pics... |
