Permanent coating on a leased car

Just got my Black Sapphire Metallic M5, so cool!!!!!

Now, it's a 3 year lease and I would like this car to look good without going to a car wash every day. What are the options? Opti-coat is $650 per several quotes I received. Not sure if this is a smart financial investment given a leased car (I have no plans on keeping it after 3 years). I was also offered cquartz finest for $350 or Ceramic pro 9h $350 for one coat or $600 for 2 coats. What do you guys think? I am mostly concerned about car looking good and prevention of minor scratches. I know this will not prevent major dents. Also, I am just a little OCD about my car being clean but not to the point where I wax it every month. Any advise is appreciated.

Congrats on your new ride.

I have a leased Black Sapphire Metallic M5. I had Opti-coat applied to it immediately. Cquartz lasts roughly 18 months, but will have more pop to it. Opti-coat is probably the most durable (lasts longer), and looks great (a little less pop, though). I'm not as familiar with ceramic pro. None of these are a force field for scratches. Yes, they may reduce the likelihood, but they do a better job of reducing marring.

Your car will look better after a quick wash, with less effort, because of these products. Many people here who lease have these products installed. I'm glad I did, despite the cost.

First thing to know is that none of these are "permanent". I think Opticoat will last 2-3 years at best. I would not advise doing this to prevent end of lease charges. I have never seen paint swirls result in charges and none of these will prevent anythink more than that. However, if you want to do something that will help keep the car looking good with less effort, Opticoat is a good option. Of course, you did buy the highest maintenance color imaginable.

Thank you so much. Yes, after AW X5 and white prius, we could not get another white car.

What do you think about prices I am being quoted? Reasonable?

Thats within the range of what others have quoted. A good shop will take time to clean and correct the finish before they apply the opticoat. So maybe ask what type of prep work they plan to do before applying the OC, or whatever product you end up going with.

If you enjoy DIY projects you can do it yourself. This is the route I chose, I wanted to make sure I got 100% coverage, however stuff like this is fun for me.

I think I paid $650. If not, it wasn't far off.

For some of us, it is a labor of love so you would rather do it yourself regardless of cost. I know myself and my ADD and that I would start off with a great determination which would last about 45 minutes and then steadily die off until I was despising the task.

I have my car hand washed and then wax it myself in their lot. I like to be involved in taking car of the car and I like waxing it so that I am aware of every new little blemish. But I also know that washing, drying well and then waxing is often beyond my attention span. I guess it is just about knowing what route is best for you.

I would have never opti coat on a leased car. No point of spending unnecessary $.

Respectfully disagree - could argue that it's not worth cleaning then.

I take great care of my leased vehicles and treat them as if I owned them. As stated, the usual lifespan of opticoat is around 3 years and the reality is, cleaning is easier and the coat looks great.

my 2 cents. I would not hesitate.
