Launch control lifetime maximums

When i took delivery of my DCT equipped M5, I was told that all M cars M3 or M5 had a maximum lifetime of 100 launches. I was also told that there was no way to reset this limit.

Has anyone ever launched their M cars using launch control more than 100 times?

Epic fable that began since my 2006 M5.

But just a possibility:
Launching does put extra than normal stress on the DCT. If you launch every day multiple times a day and you have a failure, it could be called excessive abuse and not covered under warranty.

Simple solution. Just ask the dealership to show you the documentation of this from BMW NA. That should shut them up pretty quickly.

I asked them several times and they had no answer! Every time they said they would check it out!

It wasn't my dealer, it was mentioned to me when I took delivery at the BMW Welt.

The manual only mentions not to use it during break in, and it is not available until 6 miles after cold start. Nothing about the number of times we can use it.

I think my comment still stands. Unless I saw it in writing, I wouldn't lend any credibility to it.

And it's not just LC that put so much stress on DCT! whenever you mash the gas from standstill, it puts that stress specially with DCS OFF!

Ive never used launch control either. I think it puts less stress when you mash the throttle as it doesnt modulate the clutch, it just drops it.
