It is what it is. I'm enjoying the heck out of my new M5 right now and will continue to do so.

Of course not! Things you buy are only new once, and personally when I purchased the M5 it's because I like the car. It will sit in my garage for a long time, and trying to have the new thing is like chasing a "rabbit" Very happy with M5, and I smile every time I start it up!

1) the new touch controller was announced back in April along with the new iDrive. The 2013 M5 has the new iDrive just not the touch controller. We already have the most important update, and touch can likely be retrofitted since we have the new iDrive. Further when I ordered my 2013 back in May, I knew this so I can't claim to be bothered by it.

2) unlike Mercedes, BMW is extremely conservative with LCIs. Most people will barely be able to tell the difference. As an example I can barely tell the difference between the 2013 7 series and the 2012 7 series even though the 2013 is an LCI. The changes are really subtle. With the 7 the changes at least included a new iDrive for 2013 vs 2012. In the F10 we already have that so it is minor cosmetic changes.

I'm very happy with my M5 now and while I'm sure I'll wish I had the LED headlights or some other minor upgrade it's not going to diminish the joy I get out of my car every day.

I'm actually somewhat glad I don't have the touch portion of the idrive controller I'm not sure if I like it yet. And as others have said it should be a fairly easy retrofit if it is amazing and a must have.

"Waiting" for an update to order is a never ending cycle, shortly after the LCI comes out we'll start to hear rumors of the next gen m5.

Hmmm not really. My car is 20 days out and I am just drooling at the thought of delivery. The most important update to me was the new iDrive. I also think that its just a matter of time after the LCI updates that retrofits come out for some things and the question then becomes a matter of $$$.

P.S. If the M3 is any sign of whats to come we have a lot of special editions etc. on the way after the LCI!!

I've decided to wait for the MY2014, but if I had a 2013, I wouldn't be overly bothered. The LEDs and the touch will be nice but neither is a major change to me. The only thing that I'm anxious to know is whether the LCI M5 will include the M6's steering wheel. That would be a major upgrade imho.

not at all.... if that sort of thing gets you mad, might as well also be mad that your home cpu regularly becomes obsolete too... everything constantly improves/evolves, to squeeze that dollar out of you to upgrade....

way i see it, if you want to be first in line to get something, that's what you get (that also includes the bugs that will eventuallyget fixed with every passing year before the next redo - but drive you nuts in the process). can't have it both ways..

Nope either.

But on E60 did bother me. Because the 07 comes with aux in. That pissed me off.

F10 M5 Mid-cycle changes

Several months ago I was directly told by someone at BMW NA, the most likely person that would know, that the exterior LCI changes to the F10 M5 will be "bolt-on" changes.

Waiting for July production is torture enough!!! The lci refresh is just enough for me to wait but otherwise I would have ordered in January to escape the winter. Probably 4 months longer waiting but it's 4 more months of waterboarding!

I'll be waiting for July production seeing how I was going to do ED in the spring. I'll wait a few more months for the update. The wait IS killing me though!

To recap.

Next year we might see:

1. Led Headlights and updated Rear Lights
2. 3 series style line between kidney grill and headlights (possible)?
3. New iDrive touch controller and updated NAV
4. Electronic dash display
5. Updated steering as mentioned for regular 5 series ?
6. Carbon brakes.
7. M6 steering / Carbon interior trim ?
8. Side bolsters buttons (True 20 way seat) ?
9. 2nd year of production with less problems.

Let me know if I am miss something, or there is something that won't be for sure.

My guess none of above, and not sure of the less problems as this is the second year of production. The noted recall was the oil pump which was a replacement vs. A nagging problem. Personally not too inclined to worry about what I can't control. The car I have is perfect, and I hate the LED's because they are slapped on anything with wheels now. Sorry yes to the brakes. I would love to see a pole on what percentage of owners track their M5's?

Track days, yes!

I will definitely be doing track days with the M5 when I get it next Spring. Don't have high expectations for good lap times compared to more track ready vehicles, but I'm sure it will still be fun. Plenty of power, although way too much weight also. I did a minimal buy with just the HUD and BMW Apps as extras. Will add some IND accent pieces for the looks and selected performance enhancers after I get a feel for the car with some miles of experience to guide me.

I live 2 hours away from Nurburing so of course I will do track, having said that spoke to one of the instructors and for the light track that I will do the standard brakes are more than enough!
