Lastly, to each is own but a driving experience to me is more than just acceleration. You claiming that Turbo engines do better viscerally is a matter of opinion. Turbos certainly do not sound as good typically as NA engines IMO. For me, sound is a essential part of my experience. I love my M5, but it cannot compete in regards to a visceral experience when it comes to a Porsche. I aware of that before purchasing it.
I don't agree with you on sound either. For instance the Porsche Turbos with the optional sport exhausts sound fantastic. And modified takes it to another level. For instance I heard an f10 M5 with down pipes and active Autowerkes straight pipes and it is one for he most amazing sounding cars I have ever heard.

Read the history of BMW: M1 was way before the S1.

But let's not forget what engine McLaren used in the F1:

Maybe someone high up in BMW will see the billboards and say "screw it, we are making the M8 (or M1) supercar after all!"

Fair enough. It's a matter of preference. I don't doubt you either, and I have heard saw awesome sounding Turbo cars. I just like the sound of a Scud or a 458, GT3, or some Lambos.
