Yup. Different tools for different jobs. I take that one step further and drive a different car in those situations.

Taken the F10 out now on three occasions in snow and ice - impressed more each time with the Blizzaks on.

Poleposition,

How long will you keep your Sottozeros on the car? I am still debating whether or not to get those verses a set of all seasons that I run from Oct? to March?. I have a Jeep for snow and ice, so don't need actual snow tires for the M5.

Thanks

Good God! I thought it was cold here when I went to work this morning and my temp gauge showed 9 degrees. So tired of this cold already.

Issue by me isnt the snow in the spring, but all the holes dug up by the plows. This year will be exteremely bad Im sure, so I will end up leaving my 19s/snows on until mid-late April I think

My Friend lives in the Western North Carolina Mountains where they get quite a bit of snow each year. He has a 2013 M5 and is running Conti DWS All Seasons in the Front and Toyo Proxes 4 All Seasons for the Rears on his 20's. He said it has been great in snow. He uses this miss matched setup for 4 months only.

I tried to tell you my man. Remember those comments I received about it not being all that bad here and how I was exaggerating...it's not the midwest or Canada, but it's still no joke.

I have a jeep for snow as well. The problem with all seasons is that they're pretty good at everything but not great at anything. Michelin Pilot Sport actually makes an all season version and Im sure its pretty good. The sottozero's are an aggressive winter time tire. If I was to need use of the car in snow, I'd probably go with Blizzaks as theyre a better snow tire but not as aggressive in terms of cold weather driving. In terms of how long I'll keep them on, well who knows. Depends on temps and road conditions. I'd be hesitant to put my 21's back on if the roads are filled with potholes. Im a fan of having the best tire I can possibly have for my specific and intended use. Thus my reasoning to go with these Pirelli's and the Michelin's in the summer.

Can you post pix of what the Blizzaks look like on the factory 20x10 rears? You must be running the 255 width?

Thanks

I was too lazy to pull the M5 inside and look what happened!! Me and the wife just jumped in the X5 and kept going!! I would never even bother putting snow tires on my M5, i rather not risk it in this kind of weather and like someone else just said....these NYC streets are filled with potholes dug up by the plows. I havent driven my M5 in over a week, its been X5 and TL for me and im going though cold turkey withdrawal now!

Ouch. Looks like she's crying frozen tears...
It's been a tough winter here - the worst in recent memory.

She deserves a thorough detail after these consecutive storms. I don't know how I would have managed my OCD without a garage this winter. See you on the road...
