I read many times people talking about PSS lasting up to 30k well not me and it seems I am driving the car the way it was designed to and that's why I am very rarely above 14 mpg with zero traffic where I live. |

No it is not for daily driving . It has to have a good bit of heat in it to have traction and in the cold or wet it is down right dangerous . The compound also heat cycles out rapidly on track , it's really not that great of a track tire, and is a shitty street tire . It is super noisy , doesn't have great feel in the corners, and heat cycles out well before it's tread is gone . It is very sticky when new and is very cheap for an R-comp those are it's strengths . The new version of the PSS is the best street tire available currently IMHO , unless you step up to the pilot sport cup 2 . If you drive like a hooligan in a car with 600hp and 4k + pounds you're tires won't last long . FYI my rears are toast at 8k , and I am getting 10.5 mpg . Got to pay to play , longer lasting = less traction , more traction = shorter life .

Went out and made a run in less than ideal conditions
Had to use runs on roads that were not where I did well before. There had been rain out on the county road I like to use so I wasn't confident of running on it. I did run a couple of quarters prior to that and one was mash and go with MDM, D3, Sport Plus gas, 88F and AC on. The other was downhill with S3 and so I shifted. Both had ET's of 11.93 but the downhill Trap Speed was 123.9 mph while the uphill one was 121.06. My 60 ft time on the mash and go was slightly better. The third result is from the same area as the one I used today and it drops about 10 feet during the 1/4 mile. The 0-60f time is similar and so the ET and trap speed are probably good comparisons for the difference the tune made. Those were 12.36s ET and 118.19 on the trap speed. So the tune has given me about 5% better trap speed it would seem. Of course I think I would have done better with the AC off and a couple of more tries. So consider this as a preliminary assessment of the Stage 2, it's good so far and this is within the first 150 miles since the install.

OK, I was reviewing this thread to find spinny's vbox data and realized I haven't posted my latest data here so I am adding it for posterity even though I posted it already in my own thread.
These are with the Noelle DPs and the fixed Dinan Stage 2 and CAI. I am hoping for better numbers with better road conditions and better weather conditions. |
