Turner muffler deletes... alot of drone
Just put Turner muffler deletes on my 2014 Comp Pack car....
sounds good when I'm on it hard and loud pops on upshift... nice but man it drones.... is this just my setup? its terrible on decel with no throttle, especially around 1800-2500 rpms... the problem is that is the rpm range i'm at when trying to drive slowly.... Also some freeway drone.... is this what other turner guys get? or is there something wrong with my install? |

I am in the same boat. I have the SS catless DPs with 200 cell cat mid pipes/X-Over and E-Race mufflers. I find that the 1600 - 2000 rpm is hell driving around town. Sure it is fun for a bit. But a half hour city drive is hard on the lobes. Highway driving is ok. I have been driving in a lower gear to keep the revs above 2000. I am going to reinstall the factory resonators to try and eliminate the drone.
Maybe in your case have a muffler shop cut in a second set of resonators where the muffers were. Otherwise IDK.

I have the Turner, and noticed the drone too. Drone doesn't bother me though, much better than not hearing the car at all, which is why I felt disconnected with my old 550.

I cut out the mufflers on my old F10 550 and it sounded pretty nice, but the drone between 1500-1800 RPM was rough. I ended up welding the mufflers back on after a year and then eventually sold it and upgraded to the M5 :-) The M5 CP exhaust sounds fantastic to me, but I was coming from a 550 that was awfully quiet.

I have mufflers and no resonators in the Meisterschaft exhaust. The drone is still there.

I just wanted to toss in a comment regarding drone. I have a Meisterschaft system on my car and right after I put it on I picked up a Radioshack decibel meter. There is a noticeable increase in decibels (~5-10, if I remember correctly) when the drone kicks in from ~1600-2000 rpm. I only mention this because I get the sense that folks views the drone as being primarily a frequency or pitch issue (i.e. an annoying sound). But my opinion is that it's at least partly a volume issue. This is just my somewhat unscientific analysis.

Drone is only noticeable if you are over the age of 30. Fact.

I took your guys advice and your right there is some drone... No but really, its not that bad. It has bothered me some at highway speeds but its not like were riding in a mustang with no insulation and the drone is just crazy loud. Its totally worth it though IMO, Idle is just sick. As for there being drone with just turner alone. There is very very minimal drone. Kind of like a whisper, I remember hearing it and going OMG I can finally hear the exhaust LOL..

This is exactly why I got the Innotech, IPE exhaust with remote valve control. If I want to hear droning I leave the valves open, if I want to cruise I close them and all is quiet. If you are interested www.ipe-f1.com
