M5 M6 6 Pot brakes

Hello

not really got an m5 but need some help. i have an F32 and want to fit some bigger calipers and im tempted with the M5 M6 6 pot calipers.

does anyone have any information on these and pictures so i can work out what will be needed to fit to my car or if its impossible?

what size are the standard discs on an m5 m6?

any pictures of the mounting points on the caliper to see if a carrier will be needed or if i need to fit the front hub assembly from an m5 m6?

any help greatly appreciated

lee

Why not just buy some brembo's that are designed for your car rather than trying to retrofit a kit and replacing a bunch of parts.

cos to be honest there isnt anything that is cheap. the AP's are 3k and Brembos are 4k.

i can buy m5 calipers for 1k refurbed, front discs and pads another £700. braided lines and dust shields another 150 ish? all i need are the carriers and im laughing

that said PBBrakes seem to have 8 pots for £1200 plus import tax so maybe i should go that route but never really heard of PBBrakes from Taiwan

but as the russian says in Armageddon... American components, Russian components... all made is Taiwan!!!

What rotors do you have in mind for this setup?

400x38 but I don't believe they will work due to the higher rotor offset and increased thickness. M3/4 CCB calipers come with carriers and will bolt right up to your car along with M3/4 380mm discs.

Yes. Both the Blue and Gold 6 piston M calipers are BMW Spec Brembo MN6 - 30/34/36. Dimensionally the only difference between them is an additional 5mm added to the mounting points on the CCB version for M5/6 radial mount requirements. When fitted to M3/4, the carrier is included. The only other changes are titanium Pistons with additional insulating shims, dust boots and seals with higher temperature resistance.

The standard Blue M-Compound calipers are 4 piston front, 2 piston rear for M3/4. The fronts are the same as the 370x30 M Sport/MPE. The caliper mounting position is 5mm further aft than non-M allowing for a 380x30 disc. The optional MCCB are 6piston front and 4 piston rear for M3/4 with 400x38 - 380x28.

its all a pain... the cheapest option is something called PB Brakes. they are from Taiwan and do 8pot caliper kits for £1200 plus another £200 customs duty

maybe ill try these?

Keep in mind that bigger brake calipers need more clearance behind the wheel. My M calipers are 2-4mm away from my aftermarket wheel set up. This can be a costly road to go down in the end so measure twice order ounce..

The basic idea wasn't bad as it's a really good caliper. Because it's from the OEM division the modifications however and different type of suspension and mounting, it's just complex to integrate, heavier, and not as wheel friendly.

Maybe take a little time and go visit AP since it's not far. They have a ton of carriers (and are a part of Brembo) but honestly there is another BMW Brembo Caliper that would be a very nice conversion project IMO.

there isnt anthing that is 6pot i already have the 4pots on mine so its not worth doing the upgrade from 330 to 370 unless i do the 6 pot route.
