You are right I just had very short test drive and thats the way I live my life to see if anything catch my eyes very fast to go for it you cant believe if I say I test drove the M6 just couple blocks and McLaren less than 15 min.... and maybe the reason I didnt like SMG GTS is that I test drove her right after Huracan and 570s....
My expectation about AMG GTS was something more stiff and close to BMW character which was not and obviously was not supposed to be.... something like heavy steering wheel or jerky transmission that I really enjoy...
but I loved the exhaust sound and the instant torque however again no idea why I didnt feel the kick on upshift the way I felt on M6 while AMG GTS is much lighter... maybe because of trasaxle config or torque vectoring???
What mode did you have it in... its a rather abrupt kick depending on the setting and that's pre tune just like my C63S; basically the same engine with dry vs wet sump.

Vic it's about a year ago... not sure what mode it was but I asked the CA to put it in sport mode... But I recall C63 was in race mode when I drove it...

Ok so race mode is actually more fluid; it runs thru the rpms so when it up shifts there is less "launch" like feel or kick down and if you are in drive when in Race mode vs manual; you will have to hit the redline on every acceleration before it shifts up (annoying in the city so use manual). The best daily driver mode is Sport Plus and let the car shift via the ECU. That way when cruising in, lets say 7th gear, you just mash the pedal and you will easily drop down to 4 or even 3 depending on speeds and its a very fast pull (similar cars with my tune run 129 in trap speeds).

Oh I see... Thanks Vic
I should re-test drive this car

I'd re-drive I the GTS.

160 yesterday and the feel of the R8 at that speed vs. the M5 where it feels like you're on an airplane, or the GTR where I've been 200 in it. The R8 with its heavy steering and just amazing planted feeling is amazing at those speeds. I found the GTR drove best until about 140-150 then you're just kinda along for the ride, and around 190 you'd start really feeling the wind and it got sketchier and sketchier.

The R8 at 160 felt like a stock GTR on MPSS at 120 just total control, clamped down.

Totally Agree!!!

My gen 2 R8 feels even better than my gen 1 and my gen 1 was incredible at handling (of course with advanced technology since its a newer model, as expected) and its just so solid. There is just no yaw or lean in these cars even with hard lane changes or higher G turns. The shocks and springs work so well together.

I was driving my C63S over the same roads and while the C63S has a pretty good ride even lowered I could clearly tell the difference in the dampening. Magnetic is the way!

I am enjoying this daily driving mini exotic so much that I will get a Spyder version when Im bored here. Why not hear that song even more; with the top down!!

People know I'm team BMW too, so when I tell them the R8 is the best car I've ever driven that has it all around, not just one aspect like the GTR. They're really quite shocked.

I'm on Pzeros too, I can't wait to get carbon ceramics on it with the new MPSS or whatever Michelin has changed their name too. I imagine its even more amazing.

Pilot Sport 4S.... thats the new one. Now Ill say this- I have the new Pzero's on my R8, the same as on the new Turbo S .2 model and its a marked improvement. Adding AWD really closes the gap too.

The P4S just restocked at Tirerack for the R8. My shipment just got here yesterday. Can't wait to swap these out.

Im not tracking my car Frank so the change is negligible for me with the new R1 format on the Pzero. I think RWD cars would easily see the benefit though.

I just had such success on them both milage wise with the M4 [tread was good till about 25k and still had about 4-5k left on them when we took them off], and 19k miles on the m5. Never tried them on the GTR. But they were great in rain, great in summer on the BMWs, and saved me twice in snow and probably got me a littler further than most random summer tires would have in those conditions.

Do you think I should stick with the new PZeros over the PS4? I have heard the PS4 expands on the success of the MPSS and they're even better than before.

Vic, have you ever tried PS4S on any of your new cars?
I know the tire is so new but just wondering if anyone has any experience... I'm gonna order 305/30/20 for the rear of M4 soon... looks like it's better than MPSS on track but what about street and rainy days????

I have zero experience with the tire... too new and my cars are new too for the most part with very low miles (I dont feel like dumping a new set of tires for them). I have the P zero new format on the R8 and like it alot, the N1 setup on the Turbo S and everything is good, PSS on the C63S and GTS; Ill just wear these down and then get them if I have these cars by then (no chance LOL).

I hear, that the PS4S is closing in on the Sport Cup dry level of grip and has improved the wet experience over the PSS.

Congrats OP! I have a first gen V10 as well, I currently have mine down at CFI designs in socal getting a twin turbo kit, built 6 speed, gutted cats, recaros (non oem), Amongst other small goodies for what you would spend on a stage 1 at UGR. I would highly recommend Kyle and would suggest you check out his work, his screen name is Metalshaper on R8talk (which that forums sucks btw compared to this one), and you can find him on Instagram as cfidesigns. Welcome to the R8 fam man, I love my car as well and I'm a big BMW fan (gone through 3 M cars, 7 bimmers so far) and honestly none of them gave me the overall experience of the R8. I would suggest not wasting money on an exhaust, intakes or tune if you're going the TT route. I made that mistake and parts are relatively expensive, of course you can always resell exhaust and intakes but tune you never will and it's almost 2 grand from APR. although you end up with about 600 crank horsepower from tune I/e it's better to save your money and put it towards the turbo kit, puts you about a fifth of the way there cost wise for one of CFI's kits.

Everything Vic said above plus it is suppose to have greater longevity in the treads. It is an evolution of the MPSS in my opinion making up for everything it was weak at. Not that MPSS was a deficient tire by any standards...

Well I don't think it has greater longevity since they both have the same softness (UTQG) but I hope it's truth...

Well softness doesn't mean same compound.

Michelin says it last longer but its not earth shattering.

http://www.michelinman.com/US/en/tir...-sport-4s.html

I have a friend who actually has track time on his P4S and he swears by this new tire now for overall durability and performance. Time to get my own observations off this tire after I mount them to my HRE's.... I hope it's as good as everyone says it is.

They lasted well on my M4 and M5. M5 was worse 19k miles I had 1mm left LOL but the M4, I made it well into 20s and probably could have pushed to 30k. SO I would assume the R8 with its lower torque and lighter weight would make it 25-30k.
