Cool Paddle Shifters

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Hey guys,
I'm a new BMW 328i owner.
I totally forgot to ask the dealer about the paddle Shifters.
I still want them but i don't want to ask the dealer for it. I want to add them myself. I got the luxury line and executive line. Is the configuration is already in the steering wheel or ? I thought it would be cool if i could just buy them separately and add them just like that. Or its more complicated than this and need wire and everything?? thanks a lot guys PROUD NEW OWNER OF MY ALPINE WHITE 328I 2012

Yeah, it's really easy to add them. You can get a kit from Turner Motorsports for like $75 and it includes the plastic shifters and all. Then you just screw them into the spaces alongside the steering wheel, there should be some holes about 1/2 inch on each side.

Then you need to go into the idrive system and turn on paddle shifting, which is somewhere in the menu but I forget where...

Nothing about BMW's allow you to "just buy them separately and add them just like that." Just to add an ipod adapter is like $700 installed from the stealership, and that's just running a few wires from a pre-made kit. So, no, you cannot just add paddle shifters.

Welcome to the BMW ownership experience, which includes sarcasm, disrespect and disdain -- at no extra charge!

Whatever you do, don't post a question that's answered by the driver's manual, no matter how hard it is to find. (shudder)

Hey, better here than at the stealership with the service technician giving him a weird look.

I probably saved him half a day's trip to the dealership!
