e92 M3 = pure driving pleasure... ... that's why I kept it...

but in this case for sure F10 M5 "all day-all night" before a GTR...

OK LOL, heres my input.

1. The GTR is a much safer car comparing to the RWD in the M5. AWD to me almost feels boring even though you may be faster off the line.
2. Exterior the M5 is a beauty, although the GTR may turn more heads then the M5. Definitely more dudes.
3. The M5 is not for you if your gonna be afraid to take it over the 100mph mark or 3rd gear. This is where the m5 really performs. If you just want to sprint off the line all day then the gtr will be better.
4. Interior of the m5 is 10000x better then the GTRS OBV.
5. Build quality is definitely better in the M5 as others have said.
6. Stock exhaust the M5 wins.
7. The GTR may handle better even though they are very similar in size.

So it really depends what your looking for. From what I hear the GTr is an amazing car that is technically perfect and fast.

But what I hear of the M5 is it is a car that is a lion when it needs to leap and calm as cat when you need it to be.

Plus it has SOUL.

I can't wait till the day I can get an M5. Or hope that one day the M550d will come to Canada.

Just my 2cents.

if you want to get an m5, and the most important factor for you is SOUL, then you should not get the f10 m5.

you should get the e60 m5.

a car with more soul , i would suspect cannot be had for under 150k. maybe even 200,000K + (ie. 458)

especially considering the price difference right now for an f10 as opposed to an e60; double the price, for less driving pleasure...

reasons i can recomend the f10 over an e60 are if you just want the latest and greatest, the most comfort possible, and the absolute FASTEST m5 yet.

but for pure SOUL, from the m5's the e60 stands alone.

Agree but even better and more soul an e92 M3...but it all depends what you want or expect from a particular car...

wow, alot better unbiased responses than I ever expected. I had the same feeling as most of you guys. Went to see a 2012 GTR BE few days ago. the build wasn't bad. interior was acceptable. price range for that performance is good... but it does look abit Nissan... but it's supposed to be

Okay, so say the GTR is now on the side lines... what about the current m5 to the new e63 amg 4matic?

I almost pulled the trigger on a white e63 last month as the dealer was willing to know off 10000 and finance was only 1.9% for 60 months.

Then i saw the news about the new e63 coming.... I'm going to the Toronto car show next week and will get to see the M5, e63 amg and the GTR all together....

The only comment my wife had was, will the GTR satisfy you? why don't you wait a bit and get a real super car and stop once and for all. hahaha.

I kind of want to wait for the new 991 turbo, but that's going to be a few years down the road till it's available, then again you don't want to park it out of sight. With the GTR, i figuired i could park it somewhere and it be okay till i got back haha. The carerra 4s was on my mind for a DD and useable for the not so harsh winter months.

my 3rd kid on the way.... but as my wife said, if we go out as a family, we'll take the odessey anyway.... so basically I'm abit lost now.... want something really fun but wish it was a true 4 seater... and abit exotic... that's why i was considering the gtr... entry level exotic... or say performance car.

With 3 kids you will drive it very little. Just be ok with it. I had a Porsche and never drove it because my 18mo son is not going in the back. Ever.

If you're looking at GTR's E63's and 991 Turbos, the M5 is NOT your car. Those other cars have a very defined and strong charachteristic. Their either super fast, super loud and all come with AWD including the new E63. The M5 is a jack of all trades type of car. So although it's great in almost every situation except snow, it can come off bland.

Hmm, what about RS7 ? that's also a 4seater and similar price group. I am sure there will not be many in the GTA to be seen.

There are lots of GTR in Markham, Richmond Hill ... all driven by young Asian guys.
