Upcoming Lease Return: How best to negotiate?

My 2014 is coming due relatively soon and I am quite confident I am going to keep it (as I have really grown to love this beast).

My question is, does anyone have any experience negotiating the price on the residual?

Mine is a 116k sticker with a 63k residual. I'm seeing some of these go for under 60 these days and I still have 5.5 months left before I have to turn it in.

I would prefer to not have to de-mod and just buy the thing out right.

Is it ridiculous to think that I might be able to swipe it from them for 54-56k in a couple of quarters? I mean I know what Manheim rates are and I'm sure they will be even lower than that.

Also, I only have 16k miles on it with an allotment of 30k. So it's gonna go back way under (if I let it that is).

Tried to dump my 13 at manheim this week. No good..

I hear residuals are non negotiable, curious to see how this plays out OP.

I just went through this and they were not willing to negotiate as they knew they could easily sell the car. My residual was 61kish and they sold the car in 2 days for 65k. See my other long thread about my decision to lease a 2016 instead.

http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1295882

Edit: they also are running the pull ahead program right now for up to 6 months i believe

@mbdurham17: Good thread there. This is helpful as I'm now thinking about turning the car in. Only challenge is that it's already heavily modified so I'll need to demod the car (and the $2500 Ecu tune is hard coded so that can't be removed).

Basically they waive the last how ever many payments if you are buying or leasing a new BMW so you don't have to wait til lease end. They ended up taking my car as trade instead anyway instead of a lease turn in since it was immaculate and they wanted to keep it (said they usually wholesale lease turn ins) this also got me another $1000 or so toward my new car

You should ask ur dealer about it as I believe he said it was good through December

Thank you and I hope my decision making process helped! Yeah that's a different story makes the decision more difficult. If I'd been in that situation with such low mileage I may have gone a different route

Yeah the write up was thought provoking so now I'm convinced I'll demod the car as much as possible and then get a new M5 on a lease. There's nothing quite like the M5 out there in my opinion.

Nope and they have the best program. Just received another 3 email for all 3 cars. M5 is 7 mos pull ahead, $145/mo lower payment, with inceptions only for a $124k MSRP. X5 is 8 mos pull ahead, but $8800 cap reduction plus inceptions. Payment is more than M5. 750iX is $6600 cap reduction plus inceptions and the highest payment of the 3.

My dealer said that end of lease buy out is still negotiable even if you have a set amount as a residual value? Does any body had experience if this is true?

I think the value of the car is directly proportionate to the mileage and age. If you drove over near or over your lease mileage, they may have not been able to flip it back for $65k.

When the new M5 comes out, I don't forsee any of the dealers being able to sell for the lease residuals or greater.
