Next Generation M5 Release?
Does anyone know (approximately) when (i.e., what year) the next generation M5 will be released? Contemplating getting a 2015 M5, but also don't want to get a 2015 if next generation will be out soon thereafter. Any helpful info (or educated guesses) are appreciated. Thanks.

6 years for the Ms since the production for the regular model is around 7 years-ish. Ms traditionally comes out a year after the next gen comes out. So maybe 2018 for the regular and 2019 for the m5. Then by then you wonder if you really want a year one production. Year two comes around and then you'll want the LCI Version and the next thing you know, you'll be waiting forever.

The first of the G30 generation models should arrive in the Summer of 2016.

It will be out in 2018 as a 2019 model year. Time will tell though if U.S. Customers will be delayed in getting the first model year like what happened with the E39 M5, E60 M5 and F10 M5. So with that I will say that Americans will get the next generation Gxx M5 as a 2020 model in 2019.

I don't even know how to read all these years that's how far away that is. 2020?? That's 2-3 cars away for me. So to OP, I would say get the 2015 F10 ///M5 now, swap to an F80 ///M3 in 2017 and get the G30 ///M5 in 2020 ;-)

In my best educated guess it's going to be about 5 years from today before Americans get their hands on the next generation M5.
That's plenty of time to enjoy our F10 M5's and/or explore other cars before we get a Sports Sedan that has the luxury of a Mercedes S Class, weighs less than 4,100lbs, has over 630hp, and gets at least 20% better fuel economy.

E39 M5: 1 - 1998 (Europe and other countries only) 2 - 1999 (Europe and other countries only) 3 - 2000 (Americans finally get their M5's) 4 - 2001 (LCI) 5 - 2002 6 - 2003 E60 M5: 1 - 2005 (Europe and other countries only) 2 - 2006 (Americans finally get their M5's) 3 - 2007 4 - 2008 (LCI) 5 - 2009 6 - 2010 F10 M5: 1 - 2012 (Europe and other countries only) 2 - 2013 (Americans finally get their M5's) 3 - 2014 (LCI) 4 - 2015 5 - 2016 6 - 2017 Gxx M5: 1 - 2019 (Europe and other countries only) 2 - 2020 (Americans finally get their M5's) 3 - 2021 (LCI) 4 - 2022 5 - 2023 6 - 2024 Hxx M5: 1 - 2026 (Europe and other countries only) 2 - 2027 (Americans finally get their M5's) 3 - 2028 (LCI) 4 - 2029 5 - 2030 6 - 2031 Therefore if things remain consistent, the world will not see the next generation M5 until 2018 as a 2019 model year and Americans will not see the Gxx M5 until 2019 as a 2020 model year.

Hi Dave, I doubt they would keep the car the same for 4 years since the F10 already received the LCI. probably the new M5 will come in 2018 and not 19

Exactly. 5 years away from today at most I'd say.
So we either can enjoy our F10's or try out different cars until the next M5 comes out.
