Any gains from other intakes that cost more than the $100 required above needs to be substantial to validate the cost delta.

So to the OP - yes intakes are a must, but for most of the folks in the 700-800hp range, modified stock system appears to provide the best value.

Personally I place $0 value on sound, but that’s my own preference.
I agree with your assessment and your points for those forum members in the big HP league.

End of the day. Cost for power is better spent elsewhere.

If you like that sound well worth it.

As far as lowering AIT I have yet to see a difference that is worth the money.

So yesterday the BMS M5 ran a 169.8mph in the 1/2 mile with stock turbos, stock downpipes, stock exhaust.

Just the JB4, Meth and their intakes along with upgraded clutch packs.

I believe to date this is the 2nd quickest 1/2 mile trap that I am aware of and it’s phenomenal how little is modified. Maybe $5K total in parts?

Makes me want to get into the intake biznezz for the F90...hmmm. Silicone tubes, clamps, k&n filters, and an Instagram account. 300% margin.

For a little more then the BMS intakes the Project_Gamma intakes look and sound awesome but are they safe? I really want to get them but I am worried there potentially dangerous for the engine. Someone convince me otherwise as I really want them for that sound.

There are 100’s running msr it’s the same setup, just maintain them regularly maybe even fit a filter sock in the winter, don’t drive in excessive rain and if you don’t live in the desert they will be fine

Personally I am not a fan of the intake with cones in the grill area.....over time the constant highway sandblasting will deteriorate the filter and just means larger dirt particles will enter the engine.....BMS is the best option in my opinion.

I think it’s down to how you use the car

If it’s not an everyday there’s not a prob with them being behind the grille, don’t forget you can fit filter socks aswell which will help from particles etc more

But if you are daily the car in all sorts of weather and you don’t want as much maintainence then probaly best with an enclosed intake or bms if you want sound

I’m running something similar to bms right now will report back how I like the change once the new intake is on

I've been doing a good bit of research on intakes the past couple weeks.
After reading dozens of posts I think I'm going to tackle building a set on my own.

My design will be based off popular front mount systems.
We'll see how this goes.

I was going to do the same but couldn’t be bothered with getting the maf housing scaled up

Yea I realize that's going to be a challenge. My plan is to use the stock flex joint and do my best to mirror the exact location of the stock flange.
I've been taking all sorts of measurements hopefully to get it just right.

Completely agree. They are wrong. The right approach is similar to OEM so either eventuri or aFe. The stock box is good but needs modifications as quite restrictive.

What I would like to find out is what happens to fuel efficiency post fitting a cold air intake. Is this something that improves or worsens the mpg?
