Turner, the drone is really not that bad in my opinion and the sound makes up for it. For a lease you can't go wrong. Cut the mufflers off, have them weld the connecting pipes instead of just using the clamps because they do move with heat. When you turn it in they can get clamps for the stock exhaust and you're out maybe 2k all together with labor after both swaps.

In my opinion, a great exhaust, especially on a performance vehicle like ours, should sound subdued/no drone with regular driving (highway or around town) and sound aggressive when you really step on it. I have the Turner exhaust on my M5 now and it DRONES... Drones on the highway and on the street unless you modulate your throttle to give it just enough gas/or your transmission to keep it out of 1700-2000 RPM. It's fun for a while but it gets to you...

I've had the Akrapovic on my '13M6 and it definitely was not aggressive enough.. .too subdued. I switched to a Manhart exhaust (they have an extra "loud" version) which was just perfect. I'm looking at an iPE exhaust for the M5 to replace the Turner, or possibly going with the Manhart or RACE Eismann... that would probably be more to your liking

Does your lease company not care about you cutting the oem exhaust for aftermarket mufflers? I've been thinking of taking out an f10 m5 on lease but figured I would need to buy a complete exhaust (mufflers & cross pipe mid-section) so the oem exhaust can be removed and reinstalled without cutting it ?

Anyone else have experience with installing aftermarket exhausts on lease vehicles?

On previous leased BMW's I have installed and removed aftermarket mufflers (cutting) and had no issues on lease return. The first time(01' E46), it never crossed my mind and told no one. Subsequent vehicles I brought it up before hand and no issue. IMO the dealership and SA relationship are an important variable with that answer.

*** Just noticed you are from the UK. My experience is based on NA BMW Financial

I don't think it'll fit without modifications as the tips are designed to fit Akra exhaust. But if you like to see how they look, more than welcome to check mine out in person. I work 1 min away from where we met long time ago (when I had an white X5M).

Did we meet? I don't remember, but I appreciate if you let me meet you and take a look at those tips

Here is a picture of what wiring the valves open looks like. I had my friend wire mine open and like it a lot. Sound is better for a quick cheap procedure. There is a thread out there somewhere that describes the whole thing.
