Two Issues - help diagnosing before I take it in.

Not brake squeal, I have that, but I have yet to test CLAR's solution.

1.) Whistling on slow left turns - a search turned up wheel bearings but those symptoms were a metallic ticking. Mine is a whistle/squeal on slow left turns - i feel like it is coming from the right side but Im not certain. I saw CAREFULM5DRIVER had a squeal on bumps, but I do not notice it on bumps. It happens after I have been driving it, bc i notice it coming home in the garage, but not when leaving.

2.) In an attempt to bed my breaks, Ive noticed that hard braking results in a grinding/uneven feeling. I dont get any steering wheel vibration, it just does not feel smooth nearing the actual stopping of the M5. Is it the pads, is it normal? Is it related to squealing?

Im hesitant to take it in right away bc I have aftermkt wheels on it right now. I dont want those to be the blame nor do I want them damaged in service.

I am not sure how they could blame either of those on the wheels. I also wouldn't worry about damage; it isn't as if they are mounting the tires. I would, of course, have a good walk around the car with the SA at drop off to make sure they see that the wheels went in pristine.

Maybe some gravel stuck between the pad and rotor as I've heard of this issue before in the posts.

Brakes are doomed in this car. The default pads that are used already have a service bulletin on them. There is another brand (a more expensive brand) that BMW says service departments should use. That new pad fixes the squeaking 50% of the time. If you are lucky, you won't get squeaking again. If it happens again, they will replace your rotors and pads again. They will say let's try these new pads with new rotors. That also have a 30-40% of chance of fixing the issue. If you are in the unlucky group, you are screwed.

It's ridiculous how they expect people to drive this 100k+ car with such a terrible noise. I mean the car is useless as is with this squeaking noise. If you live in suburbs and your commute is all highway, fine, but I live in NYC and I get really bad looks from people walking and other cars in red light traffic, it's just embarrassing.

Have you tried sticking your tongue out at them?

To the OP: For issue 2: have your checked your tires for any uneven wear. When my stock tires were due for replacement, I had a similar low tone grinding sensation under slow speed turning or braking. It was just the tire's in the front having worn on the inner edges.

Let me take a look - its only on high speed braking, not at first, but as Im nearing the full stop. I only have about 7.5 k on my tires too.

Do you have part numbers on the revised pads?

The ceramics work just fine and you can have them retrofitted

I have the same thing when I brake, also when I brake my cayenne its the same. It happens only under hard braking especially in downhills. I believe its just the normal sound since it happens it both these heavy cars.
