Exciting upcoming radar/laser product - Stinger VIP for USA

Just received message from Stinger that they will be launching the VIP product in the US. I have to say that it looks awesome.

However I am curious whether the product lives up to the promise. As we have seen with LI recently, Laser guns are getting better, and LI hasn't been keeping up. Antilaser has stepped in and filled the void, but they don't have an integrated solution (at least not a good one).

Escort has also been sitting on it's laurels and hasn't really launched a new built-in system since 2008 when the 9500ci was launched. The STIR+ is just the same thing with slight programming tweaks.

So it's great to see competition. I hope it's good, and if nothing else I hope it leads Escort to up its game.

What's so great about stinger compared to say anti laser priority?

Tech wise it looks impressive. I wonder if that remote display is wired or BT.

Compared with the ALP the advantage is the size if the heads. The jamming heads are tiny. They really are the same size as parking sensors. Haven't seen any test data on them yet though.

The radar is the most exciting bit. Stinger uses a patch antenna. Much more sensitive. Has a significant range advantage over ours.

Does it have a learning function like the stir ? I have really gotten used to a quiet detector( vs my v1). Don't know if I would use anything else anymore.

Not sure. The screenshots show that it is suppressing fixed alerts (with a picture of a building) which seems to imply fixed the same way Escort means fixed. However it isn't clear on their website. Something we need to learn more about.

One other thing I noticed on their website is that they also protect against vascar (i.e. those side lasers where you trip two beams and it times you). That would be a first in the US market.

The S Class Stinger display screen install is perfect (inside the close able sunglasses holder).

Have think about BMW. I hope they have a dark feature where the display is black until an alert comes up.

Exciting product.. thanks for the heads up SP.
