I have had a Turner exhaust for over a year now, and have been pretty happy with the aggressive nature of its sound. Countless complements, especially at the track. The increased sound levels inside the cabin took some getting used to at first, as it's a huge difference from the interior sound levels with the stock exhaust, which was much too quiet. I assumed the added sound inside the cabin was the tradeoff I had to accept for a more aggressive note outside. After a conversation with our World Class Sprinter compatriot, Boots, he convinced me to try the ASD cable disconnect and WOW, what a difference!! It's removed almost all the low end resonance, and the dreaded drone at 1500-1750 rpms is much reduced. It's almost whisper quiet cruising around town and especially at highway speeds. But when I nail it, the bark is glorious! The BEST of both worlds! My wife thought I changed my exhaust again. Even my B&O sounds so much different. I cannot believe that amount of manufactured sound was being pumped into the cabin. Anyone with an aftermarket exhaust should try it. Literally took me five minutes, and quickly reversible. Thanks again, Boots!

Your very welcome friend. Your ears will now last another 50 years. I also was amazed and the diff is amazing. The nerve of BMW and their crazy thought to pump sound. and yep the radio volume can be set lower. Great mod for everyone.

Lol. Dave If you have a person who remote coder they can do it in 5 minutes. If not you have to remove the left side carpet in your trunk and unplug the grey wire harness. There are instructions and pics of it here on the forum. I have to find the link D.

I can't imagine what difference it could make on Dave's beast. My ears are still ringing...

I disabled mine last night. It took me about 10 minutes to disconnect the cable. I have a custom muffler delete similar to the Turner setup and others. My drive to work this morning was virtually drone free. This is how the car should of sounded from the factory! Thanks everyone for the suggestion and instructions!

Now I have to recalibrate my brain. My car seemes "slower" without the cabin ruckus.

I just tried to remove the ASD, but looks like it's too much job to remove the carpet first...there are so many junctions... any advice please?

M6, just remove the three push pins on the left fender side, including the one at the rear with the hook. Pull the grey cover back until you see the box, take a long screwdriver and pry down the black lever on the bottom and the plug falls out. I just tucked the plug under and reassembled. Easy peasy.

Bnz, it may be too quiet if you pull it on a stock exhaust.

I had my ASD coded off last year. With the race cats and my E-race muffers, the exhaust sounds deeper, more V8-ish with the ASD off.
