The only seriously questionable part on view is the rear quarter panel and whether it’s repair is economically viable. I believe the entire panel gets replaced, so is a big job with paint and blending etc. The rear ends of BMW’s are built like tanks, so can take quite a punishing.

yea, repacing a 1/4 is labor intensive. tough call on this one... on one hand the crease may be fixable, but it could be much worse in person. |

No frame on the F10; they're unibody construction. Agree the car should not be totaled.

My wife’s Ghibli was hit by a tow truck, and it look ten folds worse than your accident. Trunk space was in the back seat. Maserati in VA recommended a body shop for mending it, and Geico paid for it. It was a very expensive fix due to special metal Maserati uses it for their cars. I’m surprised your insurance wrote it off. Hopefully, insurance will pay you what the car is worth.

Had my E60M5 hit just like that in the same spot back in 2010. Car was not totaled. When it was done you could never tell it had happened.

Did you have an aftermarket exhaust?

Looking at the picture I would be surprised if you don't have engine damage also, especially the turbos. A mate of mine got a tap from behind in his RS6, there was hardly any bodywork damage but the exhaust had been pushed forward at force and caused the two turbos dislodge, in turn caused a bunch of internal engine damage. Turned out to be a very expensive fix in the end.
Well worth checking the engine over a few times to see if anything has moved. |
