It's just luck with what manufacture had in stock at the time. it's a crab shoot between Pzero or PSS.

Just received a set of Dinan wheels, and want to go with the recommended 285/305 setup, however the PSS are on major backorder. Sigh. Thinking of trying the PZeros. I haven't had them on any of my cars since my '98 Carrera S. Hmmmm. I guess Michelin cannot keep up with demand...

I won the tire lottery. Picked up my non-CP with black 343 wheel today at Welt and it came with PSS. The car finished production on 5/28.

I just ordered a full set of 20" Michelin PSS. Had to go through the dealer as NO one had the tires. BMW Canada has access to some but they are not cheap. Paid $60 bucks more a tire then 1010tires.com. When I called 1010 they couldn't even give me a date when they will have stock.

On the showroom floor were 2 M5's at Edmonton BMW. 1 had PZero's one had PSS.

All 19" are Michelin
20" can be Michelin or Pirelli. All luck of the draw

After spending some miles on the PZeros, I think I may actually prefer them to the PSS. The Michelin is a harder tire, thus I feel every bit of vibration in the steering wheel from rough roads. And on long trips I actually end up with my hands tingling afterwards. Regarding grip, dry and wet, I feel they are more than adequate. I think the Pirellis may have just got a bad rep. I'm liking mine.

New M5 owner here. Picked up 2014 AW with SO interior, CP, a little over a week ago. May '14 build date. P-Zeros. Only 650 miles so can't comment yet on wear or handling.

Absolutely concur.

Here's an interesting read for you. These results couldn't be more lopsided between the two choices...

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparis...omparison-test

Michelin is ranked first in the segment, while Pirelli is ranked last.

However, I just swapped My PSS for P0 (295 rear), and I am in love with the new setup. The P0 have amazing traction - I can now finally launch hard and mash the throttle (under 60 mph) without fear of going sideways. To each their own, but IMO owners should not feel disappointed with the Pirelli's...

I have done approx 3,000 miles with PO's and have read reports about loss of traction & wondered how heavy footed others must be. The PO's don't suffer from loss of traction that easily, with the caveat that as expected they will spin up easily in the wet, but they provide a good ride on UK roads.
