Judging by the fact that an Akrapovic exhaust retails for $8,000 big ones, the Competition Package is easily going to be an over $10,000 option. Yikes!

Looks beastly and sounds beastly! Quite an improvement over the stock exhaust.

THIS!

You would think M parts would come stock on an M car.

Another reason im looking beyond BMW for my next car.

Akrapovic is going to produce these exhausts for BMW M. They worked together earlier and this is a result of that effort. Rather expensive for an exhaust system even if it is Titanium.

This should have come as a no cost option on the M5/M6. Let the customer decide if they want the lighter weight and louder note or just the stock exhaust. BMW could take a note out of the Mercedes AMG book. BMW is great at marketing but I'm starting to question some of the things they do. What took so long to develop it considering its made by Akrapovic.
I wonder if its the same exhaust they offer except with a BMW logo.

It's the same exhaust and they didn't change the logo. Lol!

Compare the Bimmerpost picture to this other Akrapovic picture.

Look at the logos on the mufflers. They are identical. Lol!

All they did was change the tips and market it as a BMW M Performance product.

Man I'm tired of being right! LOL!!!!

Very lame, IMO.

Exhaust sounds great...but should have come on the stock M5. I mean really? Selling an M-Performance part for an M?

I guess ///M really does stand for Marketing.

I agree that this exhaust should have come in stock, though probably in steel not titanium to manage the cost of the car. BMW Ms stock exhaust is noticeably cheap compared with AMGs.

Personally I prefer Eisenmann to Akrapovic because of the sound. If you want a great sounding exhaust with weight savings, get Eisenmann Race in Iconnel.

+1 agree with all, don't you already have to pay a hefty amount of money to get the M5 and yet this exhaust is optional....!?!?!? Makes no sense....

That does look like the Akra, doesn't it. I remember when the E9XM MPE came out, people swore up and down that it had to be made by Eisenmann. BMW wouldn't reveal who the vendor was, but it confirmed that it wasn't Eisenmann. I wonder if the vendor for the F10M MPE will be revealed.

Cool story, bro.

While I agree that the car should come like this standard, even Porsche and Ferrari offer better/lighter/louder/pricier exhausts as options. And with all due respect to our cars, they are no Porsche or Ferrari.

As said a few times already: this should be standard or a 999.00 upgrade option. This is beyond crazy.

I agree that it sounds incredible in the video.

I'm assuming they used a high quality directional shotgun microphone with their video camera. I just bought the same thing for my camera so I should be able to better capture the sound of my exhaust system much better from a distance. I'll get it in the mail next week!

This is absolutely an Akra exhaust...sounds just like mine and the cans are EXACTLY the same. That's right, I had the M-performance exhaust installed back in January

I know this is for the M5/M6's but this is just my opinion. I personally think that Akrapovic exhausts are way overpriced. There are to many other options out there that less money and sound better. The one they have for the 335's sounds like crap and is one of if not the most expensive exhaust for the 335's.

Yeah they are not allowed to sound as aggressive as they want because the design all of their exhausts to European decibel level standards which cannot exceed a certain amount or else it will be illegal, and they are expensive because all their stuff is titanium. On the plus side, it's super light!
