2012 BMW M5 (F10) sheds some camo. Most revealing photos yet.
The F10 M5 continues its performance testing while sheeding some camoflage to reveal much more of its front end design. The beautiful front bumper shape and lines are now very clearly visible, as well is most of the hood. The upcoming M5 will be powered by a twin turbo V8 rumored to produce 578hp.

Yes a ton of body roll...somebody forgot to it the EDC button. I won't think this car looks good until it is finished and ready for the photo shoot. At least all the wheels match this time...

Body roll isn't a bad thing. Especially if they are pushing the car that hard.
They are just making sure it won't roll over like the Lexus SUV's

has anyone really noticed thats still a 5 series rear bumper? the exhaust holes were just cut out alittle bigger. we have yet to see the real M5 bumper. The M5 side skirts arent on yet and those wheels arent going to be the production wheels. They need to make a wheel that will be the same or more aggressive than the previous M5.

what sucks is that the car does not have noticeably wider fenders than a regular F10...
the face looks good though concerning the body roll : I think they are testing at the Ring to finetune engine, braking, suspension and other components of the new M5,so they might play around with the damper settings and/or spring lenghts/stiffness and other things |

Those wheels look like the new BBS FI's in matte black. I don't think there's that much body roll, it just seems that way because the wheels are so far in the wheel well. This is gonna be a mean machine.

I dont understand why they are still covering the parts like headlights, taillights and such. WE'VE SEEN THE F10 5 series already. The M5 won't have different headlights or taillights.

Is there something new/unusal about the wheel hubs/carriers? They look different with open slots around their edge! Anyone else notice or explain please?

Actually, the M3 has the same head lights and tail lights as the 3 series. It is true that the E90 M3 shares the front end with the E92 (and E93) M3, and thus has different headlights from the E90 3 series. This was for cost savings - one front end for all M3s. But there is no chance this will happen with the M5 since there is no possible way BMW can use the same front end for the M5 and M6 for example - they are too different from one another compared to the M3 sedan vs the M3 coupe. Not to mention the new F1x M6 - or 6 series for that matter - are not even close to production yet.
Also, the M3 did not get the front end changes, including head lights, that the 3 series coupe did. More cost savings. But originally they did indeed share the same headlights. |

I was thinking the same. looks like the roof has the same color/reflection as the other body panels. Either way, a CF roof might be nice for performance, but might actually look out of place on an M5. Relative to the M3, it has always been an understated car. Few body panels have differed from a standard 5 series.
