ticking sound
All,
I am newbie here. I finally get to drive my car this morning and I enjoyed the every moment of it. I need to ask you all if this is normal or not. When I turn the steering wheel all the way to left or right, I hear ticking sound like tick tick tick... Is this some kind of electronic assist? I do appreciate your comments Last edited by 2013alpinewhitem5; 07-06-2013 at 11:53 AM.. |

No Its your wheel bearings, mine do it as well.
I was going to call my dealership to have them order the parts before I wast time leaving the car for them to diagnose. Aloha Alex

This is a known issue with the F10 M5. I already had my dealer clean out the knuckle and the clicking went away for a little while but the clicking came back. I really don't think that BMW has a fix for this yet. So for now I just deal with it. 1st world problems. Lol!

Okay, my comment is that you should avoid turning the steering wheel all the way to the stop. If you have to make a tight turn, and you reach the stop, back the wheel off a bit so that you are not holding it against the stop. This has nothing to do with the F10, for me, it is just common sense applying to all cars.

Everyone has it (or will have it). It's any turn, not just lock to lock. It will get worse over time. BMW doesn't seem to know how to fix it yet.
