Same hotel i stayed in in 2002 when i was interviewing for a job in New Castle, DE....
anyway, make your way to downtown Newark and there are lots of bars and restaurants. it's essentially a college town, but not sure if the students are back yet. |

Having spent an entire day looking around at houses I must say I'm really happy. Basically can buy a new build home which I design and spec out which gives me twice the space of my current house for 30-40% of the price. WOW.

Residential real estate in DE is very well priced and property taxes are extremely low. It is a nice place to live and is not too far from some major cities.

Third day here and so far I really like the place. Feels like the quality if life is good and there is enough to do to keep you occupied for most parts. And yes Philly and NY etc are not too far for when you do want to hit the city.
So what's the deal with this low octane fuel in the US? Does that result in less performance vs a European car with 98-100 octane fuel? |

It's a different octane calculation. If memory serves, 89 in the US is about the same as 95 in Europe. Or maybe it's 91 in the US.
When you get a chance, visit the Deer Park in Newark. Interesting old bar - Poe is supposed to have spent time there. Probably best to go early before it gets too crowded with students.

Welcome to DE
Welcome to Delaware lol.. I work 1 minute away from the Hilton you referenced. I'd concur that for dinner you should go across the street to Firebirds, if you're looking for night life you can go to the riverfront in Wilmington or main street newark as someone else has referenced. PM me if you need more info, good to see a fellow British person here

So all in all I have left feeling very positive. Has made me realise how much we are ripped off in the uk in terms of taxes and also high prices for everything. I am certain a move to DE would give me a much better quality of life versus the Uk. Watch this space I guess. Will know Ore end of this week. |

I'm not sure it was organized by this Delmarva group..but there is a cars n coffee in west Chester pa in the spring with a mix of lambos/ferraris/Porsche/Bmw and a few other rides.
I'll also be organizing a Bimmer M meet in the spring for all the locals I see on here. Stay tuned! |

Depending on where you are in DE, there is Union Park BMW in Wilmington and Otto's BMW in West Chester PA(right next to Wilmington).
