Insurance Adjuster Quote Received - Quick Question

I had a minor accident this past weekend. Fortunately no injuries, the car was still drivable and the other party claimed fault at the scene.

I received my repair quote from the adjuster and one of the line items calls for a reconditioned bumper. Since she was at fault, I'm going through her insurance carrier.

What have others done in this situation? I'm surprised I wouldn't get a new bumper as my car is a '15. Is it even that big of a deal?

Please advise.

I was in the same situation. Was the other drivers fault. I picked the repair facility that I trusted.

They said that if the bumper can be repaired it will be repaired, not replaced. I was okay with that.

it's not a big deal. this is however the problem with insurance companies, they are charging us a premium but yet want used crap on almost every car. I see it almost all the time in my shop.

That being said, you will be fine with a used bumper, it's up to the shops discretion to find/choose one they can make look next to perfect. I will send back several bumpers before i find one that i can work with. In the end i have to present a product that my customer will like.

Another option, pay the difference for the shop to get you a new bumper if you so choose.

9 out of 10 times you won't find a recon bumper for the m5. That's a original estimate once you drop your car to the shop they will likely call for a supplement requesting a brand new part and any other items needed. Yu will be fine.

I had the same issue. Tell them you DO NOT want a refurbished bumper.

Lady ran stop sign, crushed front bumper and many other things. My body shop refused the refurbished bumper for me, along with refurbished headlights. Refuse refuse refuse.

^^^ this just pushes up everyones insurrance costs, if they are good items and in at least the same condition as the items being replace pre-damage then why refuse- I think the insurrance companies have the right to insist with-in this remit.

It is always your right to pay the difference and have new items.

Not at all. You have the right to demand new parts and the insurance companies will comply. There is no reason not to. It's a matter of preference and personally I'd rather new over used. Used bumpers often have different clips for mounting as well as BMW apparently isn't constant with that, which can cause issues.

By the way, where the hell are you going to find a used M5 bumper. Not like they sit around in junk yards. My body shop attempted to find one before I told them I wanted a new one and they couldn't find one.

OP - Push for a new one.

The good news: It's looking like the reconditioned bumper and hood is not available.

The bad news: My car repairs were originally scheduled to start tomorrow. Traveler's quoted the wrong parts and have held up ordering a new bumper so I'm not sure when the repairs will start.
