damn 22 M5s for 9/1 so far, I work for a car dealership and selling 22 cars in 1 day is damn hectic. I hope the Welt can handle it, and its not even including people with regular EDs & non forum members. It'll be a sight to see!!

My dealer's GSM informed me there would be significant media coverage at the Welt for "D-Day"

I was just thinking the same thing. I've taken delivery of an M3 there before and I think for the entire day the day I was there they did maybe 20 cars. Are they closing it down for a day and just doing US-bound M5s?

That's a lot of $$$$ to leave dangling outside of your car lol. But should get some awesome shots.

How does BMW assign pickup times on their pickup dates? I see a wide variety of pickup times during the day on 9/1. I have my pickup time but my friend who placed his order on 6/6 has yet to get the pickup time. He has a production number and confirmed date of 9/1. The CA stated that BMW is significantly backed up on ED logistics right now. Any thoughts?

Will be glued to M5POST on D-Day. Can't wait to hear reports, see pictures, etc. I am so jealous!

I plan on setting up a twitter account for my ED on 9/1. I will post the twitter name, as the time gets closer, if anyone wants to follow.

johntomberg, were you originally scheduled to pick your car on this date? I was supposed to pick mine 2nd of Oct. but all of a sudden BMW is going to have some event at the Welt on that day that I was asked to pick it up a day earlier on the 1st. I come on the 1st and now have to rush from the airport to the Welt.

This was the first date I requested. But I did provide the Oct 2 as my 2nd choice. I expect to arrive on Sunday and leave Munich Tuesday. The 3rd is a holiday if memory serves...

Clarification: Leave Munich = start driving... not flying out on Tuesday.

As much as I wanted to do PCD I have decided to forgo PCD and pickup at my dealer. Being that the PCD process adds anywhere from 4-6 weeks to the US process from ED drop off the timing of the year with weather puts too much risk for me to have to drive the car back from SC. Next time I will do a PCD experience.

Does anyone know how BMW schedules the pickup times at the Welt? I am picking up on 9/1, D-Day, and have a afternoon pickup time. Just curious for my edification.

Wow - looks like they'll be making a lot of M5 cars in July/August!

I wonder when they'll run out of ED allocations for September pickup. It's interesting that US-delivery allocations ran out so fast, while there seem to be plenty for ED.

I don't know how they schedule either.

I actually placed two order on the new M5.

One was with BMW dealer in oregon- but i had to back out because the dealer won't do ED invoice +$1500.

I went to a local dealer which gave me ED invoice + $1500.

The first order was placed on 5/20 and pick up was 9/12 at 2:30pm.

The 2nd order was placed on 6/6 and pick up time was moved up to 1:40pm.

So it does not seem matter when order was placed.

BTW- anyone going on the 12th? Kind of lonely being the only one that day

BTW are the times on the first page delivery times or check in times. I listed my check-in time of 9am. Actual delivery time is 1030am.

I wonder of we should organize the list by delivery time so we can see who we will be sharing the stage with.
