2013 M5 Programming

Went into the dealer because my lane departure system was not working. They fixed a module in the rear bumper and also had to update the programming for the car. After picking it up, I've noticed the nav is updated (different marker symbol for my car on it) and MOST of all... My steering feels much much stiffer in sport plus mode. Has anyone else experienced this? It feels better so I'm not complaining at all (seeing as though I'm coming from an E46 M3).

ALSO the one annoying thing now is that Auto Start/Stop does not remember my last setting. It defaults to on...worst.

Are you sure about auto start/stop default?
For US spec vehicles, auto start/stop always defaults to last used setting. So if you turn it off once, it will always be in the off position next time you start the car.

If you have valet in your car (hotel valet, restaurant valet, BMW service valet, etc) the attendants almost always press the auto start/stop button by accident when trying to or while turning off the car.

If for some odd reason your start/stop default changed to always on, you can code it to always off or remember last mode.

You can code various options yourself (tutorials, software, and data files are available to download online) or PM member v12 to do it for you via PC remote connection.

I had this happen when I took my M5 in to get a faulty O2 sensor replaced...the service folks erased all my programmed defaults (not just auto start/stop but also memory seat settings, key settings, etc). I called them back and complained and they had my car back in for service and recoded it for me. Took 1.5 hours. Just give them a call. Cheers.

Stupid question, but by any chance did they leave it the Auto start stop feature on and its just remembering it? Like AVLNCH said in the US it defaults to off, unless they made a recent change and started coding it as on.

I definitely manually turn off the auto start/stop every time now when i get in the car. The other crazy thing is the steering wheel stiffness now. Was wondering if this was normal due to a new software update for the car.

The steering is automatically much stiffer in sport plus mode than it is in comfort mode. Is that what you mean?

That is not what I mean actually. Pre-dealer software update, I could recognize the steering stiffness change from comfort to sport plus (and from sport to sport plus). Post-dealer software update, the sport plus steering stiffness is much higher and a greater difference from sport and comfort.
