Complaint Dept? Need some direction please

Hi guys,

I have experienced excessive vibration from the highly regarded and over priced Bang & Olufsen sound system. Since day 1 I have had vibrations that irk me come from the center channel and the two front door speakers. Under certain low end frequencies I get a noise and rattles. The dealer replaced them and it's somewhat worse now.

I truly love my M, but now this has pushed me over the edge. Probably because it's such an expensive option. In previous posts some had mentioned the same problem and others have had no issues. Now I am highly motivated to write BMW something or look into certain avenues to either have the problem fixed correctly or be compensated for it.

Aside from the regular BMW customer service email or phone number, does anyone know a more direct approach to contact the right people to inform them of my plight? Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Are you sure the vibrations are not coming from the B-Pillars? I had some washers in my B-Pillars tightened by my dealer and the vibrations you speak of went away whenever I would play my B&O.

Nah man, I'm certain that 80% of it is from the center channel. Thanks for your insight and I will pay closer attention to that area now that you said it. I just think its poor design. I'm very happy with it overall except for the rattles. I think using metal was a poor choice. I feel they chose aesthetics over quality.

I have/had the same issues on both my B and O systems now.... originally I did not but the rattling has become more prevalent. Cell phone discussions are sometimes rather unpleasant. Let me know what transpires with your concern. I wish I had a solution for you.

Yeah phone convo really brings it out, I can tolerate that...But when I play a song I love and it sounds like shit, thats when I get perturbed. Especially when I can go in my wife's ML with a HK $750 option and it sounds almost as good with no rattles whatsoever.

I'll let you know, like I said I have already had 3 speakers replaced and it's still status quo.

Where are those washers located?
When I replaced my B Pillars I didn't see any washers? Is it behind the seat belt panel or the panel below the seat belt panel?

They tightened up some screws behind the top panel (seat belt panel). Not sure if it fixed it or not I haven't listened closely without music on yet.

I wonder if the sound engineers did long term testing on those speakers in the dashboard enviro. Mine was fine until about 3k miles and then it just came out of nowhere.

Good point Vic, but I noticed it pretty quickly. The car has 12k now, and the 3 speakers were replaced around 10k. It appeared to be better at first, but now I'm noticing it more and more. Or maybe it's more prevalent because it's getting cold in NY and my windows are closed

If it bothers you that much take it to the dealer 3 times to get it fixed. If the problem still persists contact a lemon law attorney and BMW NA will buy the car back from you at your original purchase price and you can get another car.
