Thanks for all the help guys
Also here's some input that I've learned from doing some research.

For everyone recommending calling Safelite, don't, unless you want to get ripped off.

Calling local auto glass companies come out to half the price for the same quality of glass and services provided.
Also will be visiting a salvage yard to check for tail lights and save quite a bit.

Provided there's nothing more to the story that you haven't told us (e.g., you were backing out way too fast while drunk and getting a hummer), just call your dad and own up to it. Insurance will pay for the repair. No reason to go out of pocket. This is why you have insurance. But do make sure to get it fixed before they come back.

call insurance. it is a no cost to you replacement if you took the $2 glass replacement. if not then you have to fork out the cash to fix it. either way tell him what happened before jumping the gun. More likely than not its just glass it can be replaced easily. He can tell you whether to call insurance for replacement or not.

I had my mom's car keyed by some spiteful kid when my parents went out of town one weekend in high school. Called them; they were pissed, but glad I was okay. If you're going to lie, say it was vandalism. You woke up this morning to the nasty surprise. Lying does come with Karmic debt, though, so be warned.

Windshields are not cheap.
I'm pretty certain it would be more than $1000 after installation.
But tail lights are cheap, probably around $50~80 if bought used.

Why is this even a thread, you broke a window, get it replaced at a damn glass shop simple. Now if you crashed the fucking car and flipped it 9 times and killed 3 people, then.... you would have serious problems.
