Im sure this has been discussed, but what methods do you you use to prevent those intakes from hydrolocking the motor? Or do you wait a bit after washing the car and not drive in the rain?

You won't hydrolock the motor unless those intakes are submerged under water.

The stainless steel mesh does a great job in keeping the water out. There is a sock provided for those that are concerned, however, no one really runs them. My M5 was a DD and went through rain and weather year log and never had an issue. When I first got them and was doing a 5 hour trip in the rain, I pulled over half way there and removed the filters and found nothing but some condensation.

The blitz filters are different from the Cotton oiled filters. Those cotton filers do soak up but still won't hydro lock.

Yes - comp package suspension so a bit lower. One of the reasons I went 21 instead of 20. They fill the area nicely with CP.

Looks great; I'm on 21" wheels with KW HAS and absolutely love the look and ride quality.

I wouldnt suspect water to be sitting there after it was taken in. It would be condensation I'd look for.

Instant hydrostatic lock maybe not, but corrosion inside the cylinders?

I appreciate the input though. I'm just looking around for more warm fuzzies before I go down this path. I can imagine the gains at highway speeds are great with this kind of setup and I'd like to feel safe about it.

Go for it and don't look back. It does truly transform the car. By the time any droplets or condensation past the intakes it will evaporate. These motors produce so much heat.

Love your car - Velos were on the list when I saw yours but these came up. I was going to go KW if the CP didn't look aggressive enough with 21's but I am good with it as is especially around these roads.
