Pure Metal Silver M5 Photographed Next to Silverstone M5 In CA
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I have always owned silver cars so I met with fellow member sealionbeast (see his thread) to compare the Pure Metal Silver M5 and my own Silverstone M5. After seeing the Pure Metal Silver in person this is a superior paint choice and a great option that I would do next time. The Pure Silver appears wet in person and has more depth. I took photos out in the sun so the difference is hard to see. You will note that the Pure Metal Silver M5 is on the left and appears to be a little darker in color. Yes, very different and the pure metal seems to have more depth, like it's wet or something. But, both really nice colors and I don't think you should have any regrets. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for doing this Greer!
Wow what sexy beasts!!! I guess Pure Metal Silver is supposed to be like Liquid Silver. Like the T-1000 from the Terminator. Does the PMS have any metallic flake you can see in it like the Silverstone II??

I did not notice any flakes in the Pure Metal Silver paint. It has a liquid wetness that is great when you see it up close.

Sorry....I don't see a $10,000 upcharge. Maybe some more proper photos are in order, but still don't see it.

Yeah. I saw that vid a few days ago after the original PMS thread. I mean, IMO, it looks silver. Not sure based on that video I would notice a huge difference between a light metallic silver if you didn't tell me it was a special color. If the OP thinks it's worth $10k, cool. To each their own. If anything, almost no other car on the road will be that exact color. One thing I like about my Singapore Gray.

Pure Metal Silver is actually two separate BMW color coats before the clear coat: Glacier Silver is the base coat, followed by Pure Metal Silver and then the Clear Coat. According to BMW, the Pure Metal Silver paint costs 40 times as much as the Glacier Silver Paint.
In addition, Pure Metal Silver takes a lot longer than other Individual paint jobs because the surface has to be much smoother than for other paint colors. The total labor involved is much more than for other Individual paint colors. All of that is reflected in the increase price of the option. In the end it's all a matter of personal preference. |

Both are nice! If you want that exclusivity then PMS is a route to take ..
I wonder how much BMW will charge if you wanted a respray though (for stone chips, dent, scratches) lol

Two great looking F10 M cars. Is the pure silver worth the 10k? It's in the eye of the beholder/owner of the car. It's purely a subjective matter.

Sweet looking cars, I definitely prefer the pure silver but agree with Luminor, the value is definitely subjective.. Just glad you like it..

while PMS looks great. i like the slight blue hue to the silverstone. I wouldnt regret your decision at all. that 10k could be used for something much better, like tuition for a kid, or mortgage, or anything else other than paint the normal person would just say is a silver.

Both gorgeous! It's hard to appreciate any color via pictures. I would like to see PMS in person before debating whether I'd pay the premium but I would pay the cost if I did really love the color! It is really worth the money if you can wake up everyday, and think to yourself, "damn I own a gorgeous (not to mention rare) car." I hope both of you are enjoying your F10 M5s, because I sure as hell would be!
